Rees is ready for Hatton - Warren

Promoter Frank Warren says there is no reason why light welterweight champion Gavin Rees could not meet Ricky Hatton.
"Why shouldn't it happen?" said Warren. "Gavin's undefeated, he was highly ranked before his out-of-the-ring problems, now he's back with a title.

"Gavin has a mandatory defence against Andreas Kotelnik, but before that we hope to get him a voluntary defence on Joe Calzaghe's 3 November undercard."

Rees, 27, won the WBA title from Souleymane M'Baye on Saturday.

That took the Enzo Calzaghe-trained Newbridge man's record to 27-0 (13 KOs).

But Rees himself feels that a Hatton contest is beyond his reach for the time being, with WBC champion Junior Witter perhaps a more realistic target.

"Hatton would be a dream fight, but I know I'm not a big enough name for him," said Rees.

I don't think Rees will last long

"He's in the States having big-money fights, so good luck to him.

"I'm just looking forward to defending my title and I'm prepared to fight anyone in the world."

Warren, who warned Rees about his discipline ahead of the M'Baye fight, was full of praise for the Welshman afterwards.

"I knew he had the work-rate and desire, and he did what he should have done," Warren told BBC Sport Wales.

"It was his big chance and he went out and grabbed it with both hands, he totally hussled M'Baye out of it and that fight will bring Gavin on a bundle."

what drugs is Warren on, Hatton would pummel rees in to next week, Rees won last week and fought the fight of his life but was still poor, his opponent was a disgrace, Enzo would have him in great shape but he still falls way to short, Hatton could'nt get an easier title

his best hope is for witter to want to unify to try and get a fight with hatton for undisputed lww, but he wouldnt have a chance against witter or hatton. the only reason he beat m'baye was because m'baye didnt throw any punches.

why the hell should hatton make the 140 limit to fight sum fool, this is just to fatten wank warrens pockets.

Hatton should be in BIG FIGHTS, he was already milked with the WBU defences!

              **** OFF WARREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rees wil get a piss-easy defence Wank Warren wont risk him he should be made to defend it against the mandatory challenger, how come it's only the heavy wieghts who go to court over mandatory defences not the lighter wieghts, it's not Rees's fault every other fighter cons the public so why not him, if the hatton fight comes along he should take it, getting beat of hatton wont be a backward step for him, his credibility will go up.

Rees wont make it past his first defense. Complete respect for the guy for getting the title but he wont, cant hold on to it.

If by some miracle he managed to hang onto the belt then I feel Witter will be the obvious choice as it is an easy way for him to gain another belt and almost force Hatton into the unification bout.

If Hatton gets past his next opponent that is (Should it be Mayweather or DLH)
