I don't know if it's already been stated but the reason why they went to 12 rounds is because most head trauma/brain damage occurs in the 13th round and after.

      Like Jimmy Garcia's head trauma?

2 reasons. Mainly it was because of the Mancini fight. 2ndly 15 rounders cut into other programming.

There is a good side of returning to 15 rounders then there isn't. If they would go back to 15 rounders you would definitly see more knockouts but the only bad part of that is a lot of boxers wont b the same when there career is over. ex. Rid**** Bowe, Muhammad Ali, Meldrick Taylor

And how many boxers are there from decades past who fought 100+ bouts and got beat up pretty good in alot of them and are perfectly fine?

Then there's guys who get serious brain damage just during sparring, like this guy from chicago. He's in a wheelchair, can't talk right.

All championship fights should be 15 rounds, eliminators should be 12 rounds. But I don't think it will ever happen.

Head trauma can occur in any round, given the right circumstances.

15 rounds should be for the undisputed world title. Keep 12 for eliminators/minor titles but 15 for the legit universal title.

I think they should be 13 rounds......It's less likely to have a draw that way.15 seems like a bit much but hey they used to do it.Either way 12 rounds sucks.

Rid**** Bowe and Meldrick Taylor didnt fight 15 rounders. Ali got punchy from missing alot of time out of the sport and fought long after he was shot.

15 rounders ended in 82'. Meldrick started in 85'. Bowe was much later.
