At the time i gave Tarver more chance of beating B-Hop than Calzaghe

Toney always had more chance of beating Jones than Calzaghe did (Toney was on a drip tho, so thats a 50/50)

Now ask yourself exactly the same question for calzaghe.

I really cant afford to go down the subjective route yet, there is some good tv on,

What i have said is completely true imo, that Jones and Hopkins have been in the ring with much bigger names and better fighters than Joe Calzaghe

Hopkins is guy who done time in jail, stabbed and shot (or shot at) i think, and was a streetfighter before he boxed, i dont for one minute think he is scared of Joe Calzaghe.
I agree with the Tarver part. I felt like Hopkins was being forced to move up to a weight in which he was fighting a bigger, younger, stronger guy.

Now it seems like Bernard is moe formidable at LHW than he was at MW for the past few years. So for me, Joe doesn't get favored heavily in this fight.

I wouldnt give anyone around his weight-class currently a better than 50-50 chance of beating Calzaghe (the only one that I would give close to that is Dawson, nobody else would realistically get better than 60-40). So using that comparison I must admit that I thought Eubank would be too classy for him, I was a Eubank fan at the time and wasnt keen on Calzaghe. I was also somewhat guilty of buying in to the Lacy hype. I wanted Calzaghe to win and initially thought that he would, but then I got a tad worried when I saw how heavy a favourite Lacy was.

I dont think that Hopkins is scared of Calzaghe whatsoever, not at all. I do think that Hopkins is scared of the fact that he feels Calzaghe would beat him and he doesnt want to face him while he still has the opportunity to make more money, knowing that if he did face Calzaghe and lost, it'd effectively send him into retirement.

News Knight has been top drawer so far, one of the best episodes I've seen of it. I laughed long and hard at the car-'surfer'.

Bernard Hopkins, bigger name, better skills in his prime than Calzaghe.

          Hopkins:

De La Hoya is more skilled than Calzaghe and is very quick handed.

Roy Jones at 160> Calzaghe in every way.

Winky Wright > Calzaghe in terms of boxing skill

Tarver Is a much bigger name than Calzaghe.

          Tarver is overated

Didnt watch of all it, was distracted by Moto gp and some other crap, trevor mc donald totally ruins that show any way, no one compares to Angus Deayton in the anchor role.

Yeah, cant argue with what you said, fair point.

              Ermmm.....................none.

No Calzaghe is not more skilled than de la hoya, which is why DLH has 6 world titles in 6 different weight classes, loses to some of the greatest names of his generation, olympic gold medal.
              Fixed.

Until Tarver, Hopkins' resume was exactly the same as Calzaghe's - with one exception - Hopkins had a loss.

I hope this fight happens though. Hopkins will be a nightmare for Calzaghe to fight and I can't remember seeing a fight where anyone has managed that. He'll ultimately be too busy for him of course but it'll be very interesting.

Yeah, to be fair hopkins had been in the ring with what most people consider all time legends.

                Trinidad

                De La Hoya

                Jones JR

So, i dont think their resumes were equal.

Oh and DLH beat Chavez and Wittaker.

Real talk?? You pick one fighter at random from the earliest part of his defence and you have the ****ing gall to say real talk?

Both reigns had much more killer than filler. Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell and Lacy were as live threats to Calzaghe as anything was on Hopkins' resume during his reign. FFS De La Hoya was miles above where he should have been. Ditto Tito. They had no chance. You might be one of these people that looks at names but ignores the context but I aint.
