I actually quite like Hopkins, he may be an old ****er but he does what it takes to win.

If it was Hatton who'd used his head like that there would be uproar.

Then the Hopkins/American fans make me dislike Hopkins (though I respect him as a great fighter and champion with an impressive legacy) because the same people slag off Hatton for 'clinching' or 'being dirty' while they completely overlook when Hopkins does the same thing...or worse...deny it.
one of the main reasons i like hatton other than he's an action packed fighter, is that he fights rough and tough and makes it ugly like hopkins. i too don't like how people can dismiss it with one guy and not the other. i'm American and I love all of it, it's fighting, it's not supposed to be pretty or nice..................

You make a point about the double standard.

However, Hopkins wasn't doing anything out of the norm. I didnt even really notice the head butts because he's so good at hiding it. The whining about him cheating is ridiculous.

Words like dirty fighting and cheap are for complaining little bitches, it's boxing of course you're going to expect dirty fighting, escpecially from a guy like Hopkins, mad props to Hopkins, at 42 he fought smart and threw off Winky's game plan and did what he had to do to win.. You expected Hopkins to dance around the ring and pull a Floyd Mayweather? That's smart fighting right there, Hopkin's experience was too much for Wright..

that it is. they say that he used his head in a fouling manner, he kept his chin tucked and placed his head in spots where it wasn't in danger of getting hit, exactly what you're supposed to do.

bury it in the chest of your opponent or keep it next to your opponents head on the inside. that is what you tell your fighters when they're on the inside fighting, it's defense and you use it (positioning) to create offense.

and for the clinching that is another thing that you're supposed to do while fighting, get your shots off and keep your opponent from getting his off. it's not like he was completely tying up and putting a halt to the action, he was tying winky up to gain position or to get winky to move where he wanted to so he could get the angle he needed on the inside to throw. hopkins let his hands go on the inside. i don't see what all the fuss is about. it's inside fighting, he did get warned once or twice but the ref didn't take a point away because what hopkins was doing was within the scope of the rules.

holding is what wlad kiltschko does, he flat out holds and doens't try to do any inside fighting, that is what people should be complaining about. not hatton or hopkins, they use it to create offense, not for holding sake like wlad to wait for the ref to break them.............

After watching the fight i remembered why i disliked him so much before the tarver fight, I think everyone fell inlove with him in the Tarver fight. He was an old fart that was going to ride off into the sunset after the fight, he was the underdog. Everyone likes an underdog. But now, I will never buy a PPV of his again. Wright made it a good fight at the start, Hopkins "fought" like garbage, lucky for him Wright got tierd at the end. Not to mention the bull**** scorecards.

I agree. Wright should expected that somethink dirty might have happen in the fight unless he has never seen Bhop fight befor or was half asleep when they were kicking off in the weigh in.

Wrights reaction after the butt gave the advantage to Bhop. You could see him panic after he saw his own blood. If he knuckled down, ingored it and not bitched of to the ref all through the match then it might of been a diffrant outcome. As the cut wasnt to bad and werent physicly effecting him.

No. People complain because it sucks. I personally don't give hopkins or anyone else who does it a pass. I didn't even buy the ppv because what else do you expect from Hopkins. The most real fighting I saw him do was against Tito and that was because Tito was far over matched.
