What a dumb ass thread. Boxing fans have been calling for Mayweather/Hatton for 3 years...and now Williams has ONE big win over Margarito and he is all of a sudden top dog in your eyes.

No, the British boxing fans have been calling for Mayweather/Hatton for 3 years. I personally think Mayweather will turn Hatton's face into groundmeat and the fight is nowhere near as close as Hatton's supporters would like to claim.

And I never said Paul deserved a fight against Mayweather but obviously the subject alone is stirring a lot of talk, because of the contrasting styles and styles make fights. I personally never thought it was a bad thing when boxing fans discuss possible or even impossible matchups, it gets us talking and that's never a bad thing for the sport.

I still believe that part of the reason the fight is so hyped up is because it's got various elements that made other fights marketable. Firstly it's British vs. American, which is always a hit in this sport. Secondly it's white vs. black which is always sure to make a buck (Holmes/Cooney anyone?). Not to mention both fighters are undefeated, have contrasting styles and have a large fanbase.

And I don't think it's fair to say that anybody with half a brain wants to see Mayweather/Hatton. I think anybody with half a brain already knows how it's going to end.
