No doubt the fight was definately a close one. I'm neither a Margarito fan nor a Williams fan, simply a boxing fan. And anybody who is not acknowledging the actual closeness of the fight in my eyes they've either only seen the fight once, or simply hate Margarito and cannot give him credit for anything.

I'm not in any way trying to say Margarito was "robbed" because I think he was clearly outpointed and simply didn't throw enough. Had he thrown more it would've made the judges job even harder for them. I'm certinaly not opposed to seeing a rematch. And I don't see how any legit fan of boxing would be either. It was a close fight no matter how you slice it but Williams clearly put a lot of rounds in the bank with his work ethic, which is quite admirable.

And I think one must watch the fight multiple times in order to make an accurate judgment.

Anyway, after watching the fight 3 times I had the fight 7 rounds to 5 for Williams. With Margarito winning the 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th rounds. But really the 6th round was so close it's hard to say. Williams certainly threw a lot and I know throwing impresses judges but he rarely connected anything solid.

I think that no matter how we scored it we can all agree that there were some very close rounds in this one.
my point in all this is, not because is margarito but because he is or was the current WBO champ when in doubt of rounds it should go in favor of the champ, being a champ back in the days had some benefit but i guess not anymore

116-112 Williams, I had Williams win the first 6 rounds.

That's a whole other argument in itself, but I do see your point. Still I think Williams did enough to score the decision.

Williams is my favorite fighter and you need to watch that fight a couple of times to see how close it was, but williams won that fight and finished the twelfth round like a champ, so give credit to both fighters, dont say that margarito was exposed I used to say that, he fought the most akward WW, and lost a close fight, and give credit to williams for taking those hard shots and outboxing him.

Margarito's biggest mistake was giving away the 12th round and starting a couple of rounds late with the pressure. Paul's chin and ability to weather the storm to fight back in the 12th round surprised me for a fighter his age. He showed that he can fight under adversity and return fire even when stunned. I wouldn't mind seeing him or Margarito against Cotto next if that fight can be made.

it was such a weak win IMO - now that i've seen it twice, i can comprehend why margs and his supporters are so up in arms.

still though - you're a fighter, by all means JUST PUNCH!

I totally agree. I think Marg did a terrible job fighting. Why not just throw? That's what Williams did and honestly, that is why he won. I like Williams but he did absolutely nothing spectacular.

it is another arguement that can be made, but to close this chapter,
wiliams deserves the win based on his performance and total punches thrown

Paul Williams 8 rounds to 4 over Margarito.

Anyone who scored the fight for Margarito is a fan of his, on drugs, or doesn't know much about boxing.

That **** wasn't do draw either.
