i think gomez is a decent fighter with alot of heart. he comes to win. he can definitely fight but i dono if he can **** in welterweight with all those power guys. i would like to see him have 2 or 3 more fights and have a match with cintron. see how he does against a heavy hitter, then we'll make our decisions. too difficult to tell.

Exactly. I good boxer will give him trouble, unless he can turn it into more of a brawl. Didn't Gomez himself say he fought like Gatti? Good boxers who refused to brawl always gave Gatti trouble.

Yeah, thats kind of another think you've got to consider. Gomez is definately improving a lot and will continue to improve. He is looking better and better every time I see him.

I'm very uneasy about anybody giving Gomez too much of a pat on the back for his win over Arturo Gatti. Because obviously Gatti was never an elite fighter, he was extremely flat-footed and easy to hit, and his timing was so horrible that I wondered if he hadn't shown the early signs of brain damage. That said, Gomez did what he had to do and fought a perfect fight against Gatti.

However that's all I'm going to say about Alfonso Gomez because I believe if he fights any serious opposition at Welterweight his chin would be shattered like glass. He's a nice, likeable guy with a good heart but he has no power at all and he's in the wrong division. If I were his advisors I'd consider a jump in weight to 147lbs, where may be able to carve himself out a decent spot in the sport.

Gatti has been shot since 2001....That's 6 years. He has been coddled and protected and has been fighting for the most part C level fighters and B level featherweights who cant punch. Anyone with half a brain could see that he is punch drunk and has brain damage. He should of never been in that ring in the first place.
