    Alfonso Gomez

I'm not going to say anything crazy and call him a contender to beat Mayweather or Mosely or anything like that, but man, I was impressed. That was a very nice display of pressure and counter-punching by Gomez against Gatti. It doesn't say to much considering that Baldomir was able to handle Gatti with relative ease, but I like Gomez. I definately look forward to seeing him fight some more. He is a very exciting and likeable fighter.

Gatti is flatfooted. It is extremely easy to outbox him, especially considering he started out his career at 130, and look where he is now. He only looks good against featherweights.

gomez looked good. and gatti was never really technicaly skilled.. But that was definetly gatti at his worst.. he had nothin. A gatti from back in the day would of been a different story im sure..

I wouldn't call him an immediate player in the division, but he did finally put the Dragon to sleep. I was impressed with his power, since he's not known to have much. I think he could be a fringe contender for years, never really reaching championship status. He's not on the same level as Cotto, Williams, Floyd, etc.

Good display, landed some amazing flush shots. Credit is givin where credit is do.

Thing is.. he's still a pretty young fighter.. has not too many fights and could still learn TONS in his next 5 or 6 fights.. Before having to TRULY step up again. Good fought, easy or not to beat Gatti, he did what he had to do. His job, and he did it well.

He looks like he could go even lighter. He's never going to be a world beater in the WW divisison but at LWW? Possible. Apart from Hatton, there's not a lot there.

SHB brought up a good point gomez even at 147 has a good amount of fat on him, it seems like he should be able to make 140, but i think he's just naturally a puggy guy, kinda like juan diaz

It is a bit unfair to take away credit from Gomez, but knockouts are knockouts. That right cross was crazy, Gomez certainly has my attention for his next fight.
