It is frustrating watching fights where one man's plan is to tie up his opponent and nothing is done about it. Last night many of us predicted a victory for Williams. He has the skills, he's faster, and a good technical boxer. But for most of the fight he average 6 hugs (tie ups) per round. The referee warned him later in the fight but, even after a warning, no penalty was given to Williams for the continued holding. Ive yet to see a recent fight were a fighter gets penalized for holding. Add Williams to the Hatton, Ruiz, and Zahir Raheem club. It's easier to win a fight when you let your punches go and 90% of your defense is to tie up the other fighter and neutralize him completely

Honestly Williams doesnt belong in the same sentence as those guys as far as hugging goes. I mean he threw over 1000 punches and didn't let up the whole fight. I mean it wasn't like Margarito wasn't holding either. He was trying to keep Williams close to him so he could get his shots in. There were many times when Margarito was holding one of Williams arms and didn't let go. -
I can't Say PWill was hugging for the majority of the fight, Margarito was doing a lot of holding too, I know I'm not the only one who saw him locking up PWill's arm on a couple of occassions only to see the ref warn Paul, but I think a lot of this was picked up from BHop, watch him fight, he will throw then hug to break up his opponents rythm and not allow a counter, I'm not a fan of it but it's pretty smart actually even if you don't like it.Comment

williams doesnt hug normally but ti think he feared margaritos power so much that he had no choice. i think its a cowardly way to fight. almost as bad as running the whole fight which he also did.Comment

How did he run? I saw him go toe to toe with your boy a couple of times sometimes getting the better of him, somebody has to come forward and somebody has to backup, and I actually saw a lot of circling and jabbing by PWill instead of what you call running, if two people are just going to stand there and slug it out then they might as well take their ass to contender, because no professional boxer in their right mind is just going to stand there and trade shots all day.Comment

I think he boxed well. He didnt run he boxed and when he did he was technically good. It's just annoying how fighters these days use tying up as part of a defense. Paul was taller, quicker, and more skilled but why tie up the slower guy so much? Why is nothing done about it?Comment

As long as you arent hugging like Ruiz then its fine. Williams threw 1200 punches, hes excused for any hugging.Comment
