Ive said this a hundred times and Ill say it again. I think people make way to big of a deal out of Oscar's jab in that fight. Its dumb for people to say that Oscar couldve won if he wouldve threw the jab more. I always say that the reason why it was so succesful was because he didnt throw it that much. It caught Floyd off guard everytime he threw it. If he threw it alot then it wouldve been no problem to Floyd. He wouldve definatly took that away. It just worked well because he did it so seldomly that it was a shock to Floyd every time and thats why he smiled every time. No way it wouldve been half as good if he threw it alot. Like Floyd said in the past, no one is going to beat him with just a jab

Back when I 1st saw Williams about 3 years ago I thought the same.

But can Williams deal w/his speed and accuracy? I think his physical advantages will git the win.

        Williams SD.

Does this mean Williams is the new "flavor of the month?"

          I saw two things tonight:
          1. Margarito got exposed by a guy who could box (which is what I said would happen LONG ago; Look it up in the old threads)
          2. Williams has a lot to work on still to beat the elite fighters, but he's got a great start. The way he slowed down tonight would equal broken ribs against Cotto.

If Floyd fought the fight by being out of range, he would land 0 punches the whole fight. The listed Williams arms as only 1/2 an inch longer than Margaritos, but you could see when they clinched each of his arms was a good 5 inches longer.

I dont see Floyd ever taking the fight. Williams makes Tommy Hearns look like a midget.

DLT, Im starting to think that you believe so completely in Floyd that if he got knocked down and was wobbling around the ring you would attribute it to "a brilliant strategy used to create counter-punching opportunities".

Seriously, you sound like the Iraqi Information Minister the way you talk about Floyd.

Floyd is human. Floyd does have flaws.

Shawn, my good man. When I was strolling on the main screen I saw your name as the last post and I already knew what you would say and I already knew you would come at me. Then I would say to you the exact same thing. No matter who it is, you think Floyd will lose to the elite fighter. No matter who is hot, you will pick them against Floyd and then say that Floyd is scared and so on and so on.

Its funny that you say those things in this post about Floyd because that is my point. So far he hasnt ever been knocked down or wobbling around the ring. The only time he's ever really been stung was in the Chop fight and look how he handled that? You never ever see anyone get stung and do what he did. He didnt run like 50% of the guys do and he didnt hold like the other 50% do and what trainers teach you to do. Instead he laid on the ropes in his normal guard and just rolled every single punch even though you could tell he was completely shook. Thats a stud. No one could do that and he even came back and you could argue he won that round.

I didnt say Floyd would kill him. As of right now I would probally give Williams the best shot out of anyone to beat Floyd but I dont see it happeneing because Williams is still too raw. Its not like he's established so how can you get upset with me picking Floyd? Everyone is beatable but I also do think that Floyd is a All Time Great but you guys wont recognize that. Therefore Im going to pick him against most guys unless its the super elite and there bigger then him

There is an old saying in boxing. A good big man will always beat a good little man.

How will Floyd beat a man with an 8 inch height advantage and a 12 inch reach advantage.

He wont be able to throw his pet left hook, Williams is too tall, his arm doesn't extend 8 inches above his head in a hooking position.

He wont be able to throw strait right hands, he loses height when he lunges.

You will probably bring up Leonard Hearns as an example of how it is possible.

Hearns was only 3 inches taller than Sugar Ray Leonard and only had a 4 inch reach advantage. Compare that to an 8 inch height advantage and a 12 inch reach advantage for Williams.

Williams has nearly 3 times the height advantage Hearns had on Leonard, and Williams does have 3 times the reach advantage that Hearns had on Leonard.

Paul Williams is the size of Lennox Lewis.

There should be rules against guys his size fighting at 147, especially when they put on 17 lb after weigh-in. I dont think anyone could really compete with him at 147 when he comes in at 160 and is as huge as he is.

Imagine if Manny Steward got him as his charge. Its really not fair to other fighters. Williams should be forced to go up in weight, or same day weigh-ins need to be imposed.

I personally have never called Floyd a runner, because he is not. He really doesn't use his feet all that much. I have always thought of Floyd as a miniature James Toney. He fights in the pocket and counter-punches.

I don't think he does is as well as James Toney did, but he is without a doubt the most talented fighter currently fighting.

However, being the most talented fighter doesn't make you the best, or unbeatable.
