No way Joke fights Dawson. No way in hell a fighter who has made a career ducking the best fighters fights a guy who has a serious shot of beating him and ruining the big payday against Kessler. No way...Comment

HBO messed up on this one. They put on Calzaghe/Manfredo and Wlad/Austin but they weren't willing to pay for Calzaghe/Kessler. That just doesn't make sense. Now Showtime may step in and take the fight, but like Sin said I doubt Calzaghe's camp would take the fight with Dawson. He's too risky and could mess up a big payday in Europe for Calzaghe/Kessler. If there was any fight I wanted to see it was Calzaghe/Kessler, but know I don't know if it will happen.Comment

Joe Calzaghe and Mikkel Kessler talks have taken another turn. HBO has lost their exclusive negotiating window, and Showtime has now stepped into the mix, offering Calzaghe a two-fight deal, with the second against Kessler sometime in the first quarter of 2008, as they don't have the $5 million available in their budget for this year.
**** this here comes calzaghe-veit part 3. the trilogy we all wanted to see. god i want to see calzaghe lose so bad ill buy a ppv against kessler just to see him lose.Comment

HBO is the network that is big into showcase fights and pushing a star. Showtime usually puts up competitive matches. I've been watching boxing for 3 years or so now - and other than Sam Peter vs. Taurus Sykes, and two showcases meant to put the winners against each other (Tarver/Muriqi & Dawson/Ruiz, also Byrd/Williamson (which turned out being competitive lol) & Toney/Guinn), Showtime will put two guys in the ring where the outcome appears to at least be in doubt a little bit.
Calzaghe's 2 HBO opponents? Bika and Manfredo
Calzaghe's last 2 Showtime opponents? Lacy and Byron MitchellComment
