well i think for shane mosley to have finished that first vernon forrest fight was pretty impressive. When i saw him go down i thought he was done for sure, but he got up and finished the fight like a warrior..... to me that deserved some credit. He had to have known he was way behind on scorecards and stuff but he still got up to try and finish. Losing but showing the heart and determination to still try and to win. Someone also brought up draws earlier take marquez vs paquiao marquez fought back really hard in that fight to come back with a draw fight like those you almost need a draw cause both were really winners. anyways fun thread.

      Depends on the situation.

For instance, Michael Watson lost the first fight with Chris Eubank, but he should have won, and I think that adds to his standing. Now with the Mike McCallum fight, well sure Watson showed heart, but it's not exactly going to add to his standing overall just b/c he showed guts.

As for guys improving after a loss. I'll give them credit in that. But it's not like I'm going to rank a guy higher b/c he showed the resilence to come back from a defeat than I would to a guy who didn't lose in the first place (provided the opposition level is similar).

Close only counts in horseshoes, and I doubt any of us play that.
You can lose crediblity in a W, see any of Taylor's recent fights, or alot of Mayweather's fights, as easily as you gain respect and credibility in circumstances where the result of the fight was not a win. See Roberto Duran vs Marvin Hagler.

well Mayweather is better Ray Robinson.

most people remeber of Ray Robinson is his Raging Bull fight.

anyway nearly all fight when they are fight are hated once they come old and retire then people love them. it just a fact i know from see people here.

in few year time any contervisal loss is consider a loss people dont remeber when Aaron Pryor took some substance to KO Argulleo in there first fight or the quaility of his opponenet. they say he was ducked i didnt **** and people say he was sick when he lost or was high.

i dont know what you people think alway trying to compare different eras. people of those era had a 2nd chance when they loss but now they dont so quick making judgment over some fighter e****ally a fighter who moved 5 weightclass and won the WBC belt in each not to mention other belts

Maybe Taylor lost credibility for you, but to me when a green fighter like Taylor has two W's and a D next to his name against Hopkins and Wright on boxrec, I am pretty impressed. Maybe you'd be impressed if Taylor was 16, I don't know. Takes different stuff for everybody I guess.

I said his recent fights, and he wasn't impressive against Winky.

If you think he's gained more credibility than he's lost in his recent fights even though they've resulted in W's well than I disagree.

                      Winky vs Taylor

Taylor could have rise his gaurd abit too win more rounds and use his jab more

Winky ****ed up when he started to dance in the last round ****ed him up.

basicly both have lost to themself so but Winky dance was a greater lose to Winky because he could have won the fight if he worked harder the last round and didnt change his style all of a sudden
