So McNulty, who made the mistake you or wolfgang?

You should do a little research before creating threads, two of the three boxers you say won Olympic gold medals - Arreola and Lacy - never did. You made yourself look ridiculous...

It means something to win a Gold Medal at the Olympics no matter what...and Harrison isn't finished yet. It looked like he was actually beating Sprott, until he got hit with a lucky wild haymaker dead on. People are much too hard on poor Audley Harrison.

That's possible, John, but I'm also recalling a couple of other unimpressive performances (compared to expectations) from Breland during those Olympics, particularily the first fight against the Canadian, Gordon, who Breland did beat by decision, and deservedly so though it was close, but still wasn't impressive in doing so. Still, from memory, the hometown crowd didn't boo Breland on that occasion or those other occasion(s) when he was not impressive at those Games, so I'm not going to quite get behind what your saying. Especially when my own memory of that fight tells me that, yes Breland was unimpressive in that one, but he was also getting outworked by his opponent, Obreja, and I thought his opponent took it.

To be fair, though, I'm not recalling that decision as being close to the worst of the bunch that went for the Americans way in those Games, though (that would be the Tate & Tillman fights with Ayed, Sullivan and Musone, the decision that Page got over the Korean favourite, and to a lesser extent, the Biggs/Damiani fight for the gold medal at super heavy), so it's possible it may have been more of an "either way" type of decision.

            Blah, blah, blah.

The poster clearly shows lack of both knowledge and common sense.

Are you meaning the thread starter, BB, or the guy(me) who posted just above you?

              Just asking to be clear.

I didnt fact check...your right and apologize. But dont try and grab for straws when you got schooled. If you subconscious needs to fight till the end and make youself believe your right, then I feel sorry for you.

Wolfgang and someone else did say it, and you said it was only me and some other mindless ****.
The Lacy thing was my fault...I remember when I 1st heard abut him I remember 'gold' and 'olympics' always being mentioned. Someone else here said he won [no i wont thread sift again] and just thought it was so.

                      It would help...

I think winning gold in the Olympics exposes a boxer to many promotional offers en route to a pro boxing career.

An amateur looking to turn pro would probably have a harder time, unless he was exceptionally talented.
