Since he stopped Paul Denton in 98 (about 30 fights back), hence I feel as if I have seen enough of him to give an informed opinion unlike many on here!

I have been following him since the beginning, i.e. local paper (Tameside Advertiser) but started taking much more notice of him when he beat Thaxton in 2000 and more so when he beat Krivolapov on Sky Sports. The Krivolapov fight was impressive, as the Russian had only 2 losses at the time and had a chin of granite. I knew then he would eventually win a major title. I have seen him fight live twice at the MEN against Aldo Rios and Carlos Vilches. I have also met him at a local charity event last year...What a nice guy...

Hatton probally walks around way heavier then Collazo. Saying Hatton can defeat anyone his own size is kind of a weird statement. What does his own size mean? Do you mean at 140 or do you mean 5'6? He walks around heavier then probally everyone at 147 so is that his own size? If he own size means 140 then I still disagree. I think Harris & Paulie could give him some trouble but mostly I think the guys who have moved up wouldve gave him a ton of trouble. Guys like Floyd, Cotto, Shane, Oscar, and so on. His height is his height. I dont consider that a huge negative because guys fight taller fighters all the time
Anyone who's ever boxed knows how important reach is. Hatton has a 65'' reach which puts him at a disadvantage.

It interesting how you guys on both sides harp on about size though.

On the one side some talk about how Hatton walks around at 175+, and say that he's bigger than most middleweights. This is ridiculous - Hatton just balloons with fat between fights because he drinks, eats ****loads and doesn't train.

On the other hand, people keep bringing up his reach. Reach is important of course, but it doesn't dictate you division quite as clearly as made out. hatton has ALWAYS fought people with a reach advantage - he only throws jabs as a surprise move, and he's always looking to get within range. So his small reach doesn't prevent him moving to 147 to fight guys that for the most part have competed at 140 or below anyway!

Surely "size" as opposed to height, reach or weight, is based on the frame of a guy. hatton makes 140 without too much problem, but he's a pretty big 140 fighter, and a move to 147 shouldn't be as big a problem as some make out if he is the class fighter some believe. I think he'll make the transition no problem - if he loses it will be because of the opponent.

BTW I don't have much faith in that nutritionist person who prepared him for Collazo - JuyJuy called that one spot on.
