Taylor Has No Chance Against Pavlik

people are overrating taylor's boxing "ability". hes not elusive like willie pep, he doesnt box and move like ali, he doesnt have power like louis, and he doesnt have jake lamotta's chin. the only thing really outstanding about taylor is his athleticism. honestly, from the time taylor won the title (in highly controversial and unimpressive fashion) until now, who has really been impressed by jermain taylor?

he beat hopkins = hopkins waited too long to go offensive.
draw with winky = winky didnt apply enough pressure.
win over ouma = a much smaller jr middleweight actually pressured the "champion" into the ropes and gave taylor a real fight when taylor was looking for a knockout opponent.
win over spinks = one of the worst fights i have ever seen, period. 'nuf said.

taylor has gotten this far on athleticism and HBO money, nothing more. even the guys who he was supposed to blow over (spinks and ouma) made him look the fool. he cant punch, he cant box, hes flat-footed, he doesnt move his head, he doesnt throw combinations, he doesnt move around, he doesnt exploit an opponents weakness, he doesnt even go into a fight with a goddamn gameplan (besides trying to knock ouma out).

and this guy is supposed to outbox and decision kelly pavlik? yeah, good one.

dont even try to say "taylor fights the better fighters". in their contender phases, pavlik fought fulgencio zuniga, bronco mckart, and jose luis zertuche. not great fighters, but top 20 MWs who never before were stopped. oh yeah, and pavlik beat this guy called edison miranda, a fighter who people were saying "hes unstoppable" adn "one touch and you're out", a fight he was expected to lose. the best guys taylor fought when he was a contender was an old beat up raul marquez and a never-has-been title-holder william joppy. spoon fed his whole career.

pavlik is the all around better fighter. theres nothing jermain taylor can do to beat pavlik. he cant outbox him and he damn sure cant outpunch him. all it takes is a small breeze to back taylor into the ropes. and punishing his opponents on the ropes is kelly pavlik's bread and butter. even if taylor tried to tie pavlik up, pavlik is bigger, stronger, and unlike taylor, he can fight on the inside.

pavlik by TKO. this fight isnt even close.

WInky not applying enought pressure is an oxymoron lol.

But Pavliks pressure is more relentless and brutal. And Taylor seems to fight going backwards without to much coaxing so it could turn into a real war in there.

I think Pavlik wins to, but thats more my heart then my head

"taylor has gotten this far on athleticism and HBO money, nothing more."

These things are just silly to say about fighters that have done great with P4P #1 fighters. If Taylor fought Felix Strum right now and won then he would still be a good fighter.

The man deserves some props for what he has done and he won't get destroyed by Pavlik... He man lose but he is too good to be destroyed.

but you saw what happend when winky DID apply pressure. taylor backed up and went into a shell. if winky did that more often, he would have won the MW title.

I'm no Taylor fan, but I love this style match-up for him. I'll go ahead and call Taylor by late stoppage, perhaps on cuts.

Tell me other fighters who could SD with Hopkins and draw with Wright? There isn't many, and Taylor is one of them. You can't say that about Trinidad, Oscar De La Hoya, and all the other "all time greats".

mishra it was actually a L, but they made it a SD cuz taylor is younger and hopkins is generally unliked (pr flag stunt didnt help things)

when you say all time great, do you mean tito and oscar or robinson and hagler?

the results of those fights were more hopkins and winky's fault more than taylor's.

taylor didnt earn those results by himself.

Can you say those things about Pavlik?

I mean, I really like the kid and hope he wins.. his fights are for sure more exciting and when he fights, he fights... Taylor is too cautious now.. When Pavlik was engaging with Miranda... after 6-7 rounds, he had the fight in the bag and could just jab his way to victory.. but no, he fought him to the end! Heart of a warrior!

But he may not be as experienced as Taylor is and Taylor knows how to steal fights... I think Taylor has the advantages in this one. His diffence is not that bad.. and he will make Pavlik miss a lot.. that may play a role in the later rounds.
He won’t stand there in the middle of the ring trading like Miranda did that I can almost guarantee you.

BTW, the fight with Wright, I had Wright winning! (but hey, I was not one of the three judges to say otherwise)
