Saw an article saying Hatton wants Mayweather at a catch weight

its on the front page of b o x i n g t a l k, **** that, either move up to ****ing 147 or stay your ass at 140. None of this catch weight ****, move up like every other great champion or just stay where you are where youre comfortable. Mayweather made the move from 130 to 135 to 140 to 147 with ease. Hatton can move up ONE division...

    ONE division.

I think I agree. I think Hatton has a legitimate case for claiming he is too small for WW, but that only really applies against big welters such as Williams, Marg, maybe Mosley these days. I think against Floyd both guys would come in a fight time around 150 and would be lean, quick and have good stamina. Theres no need to **** around with a catchweight.

I don't lend much credence to thes boxing articles though - its hardly a regulated industry and so much of it is opinion/speculation offered as fact.

Surely as PBF's last fight was at 154, then Hatton saying that he'd like a fight at a catchweight would indeed mean at WW?

Thats not what he meant, mayweather could easily make 147, so could hatton if he actually wanted to.

I think hattons words imply 'not welterweight'

"I’m a junior welterweight, but the pain would be worth the gain, so maybe we’d fight at a catch weight."

            147 isnt a catchweight.

It depends. Hatton often seems as though he doesnt know as much about the terminology of boxing as many people who spend their time on boxing forums. 'The pain would be worth the gain' to me sounds like he is prepared to move up to welterweight.

Mayweather holds the 154 belt yea? both would come at about 147-150 for the fight, doesn't matter for Hatton for this fight because Mayweather isn't a natural welter let alone light middle, but if he some how won he would be a 3 weight world champ which would sound nice.

A boxer knows what weight divisions hes around, how can someone, who fights one division below welterweight, somehow not know thats hes fighting under that division. forum or not, hes been around the sport most of his life, nobody is that dumb.

Good stuff. I think Mayweather and Hatton match up nicely. Right size.
