Boxing support in the UK is often nationally motivated.
Boxing support in the US is often racially motivated.
Believe me, the US is a far more racially charged society.
In the UK, most fight fans will follow boxers of all creeds and colours as long as they're British. Nigel Benn and Frank Bruno were two very popular boxers and the atmosphere at their fights was very similar to Hatton fights. Likewise Amir Khan is probably the most recognisable boxer in the country and is a major draw (thousands would follow him abroad).Comment
