it was a great fight, no doubt, but I wouldn't call it the greatest fighter ever, it's without question a top 10 fight, but IMO #1 would be Ali/Frazier III, this fight was IT, this was the fight to show who's the best of the two, this was the rubber match, this was the fight that cemented both guys names in boxing history.
Castillo-Corrales I the greatest fight ever

I have converted baseball fans by showing that fight, believe it or not. I used to show Lewis-Klitschko because they were heavyweights. Now it's Corrales-Castillo.What I mean by Live is "I dont know the result of the fight". So if someone doesn't know the result of Corrales-Castillo I then when they watch it, its the same as Live for them.
I'm just saying the Live thing MIGHT bias me since when I saw many others I was excited and greatly entertained but I still knew the outcome. I dont know how I would've felt if I saw them live.
But the true test could be this: If you are trying to convert a friend into a boxing fan, what fight would you put on? For me its Corrales-Castillo.Comment

But, like most Ali fights, he was clearly winning it most of the way. To be the greatest ever, you would think the fight was dead even or close to it before the end.it was a great fight, no doubt, but I wouldn't call it the greatest fighter ever, it's without question a top 10 fight, but IMO #1 would be Ali/Frazier III, this fight was IT, this was the fight to show who's the best of the two, this was the rubber match, this was the fight that cemented both guys names in boxing history.Comment

You are correct, i've never seen it, my grandparents saw the fight and they tell me it was amazing, i was wondering if anyone knew that fight ranked on the all time list.Comment

correct me if I'm wrong, but going into the 14th round wasn't the fight dead even/close on the judges scorecards?Comment

I'll say it's the best fight that I have ever seen.
But, there's been tons of great fights that I haven't seen.
I'll just put it this way: I knew the outcome of the fight before I even watched it, and I still ****ted my pants.Comment

I said right after the fight it was the greatest fight ever, too...I think it was on this forum where I was arguing why it was better than Hagler-Hearns.Comment

This fight didn't cement their names in boxing history. Ali had already beaten Liston twice, Patterson, Foreman, Norton, ( Frazier already).it was a great fight, no doubt, but I wouldn't call it the greatest fighter ever, it's without question a top 10 fight, but IMO #1 would be Ali/Frazier III, this fight was IT, this was the fight to show who's the best of the two, this was the rubber match, this was the fight that cemented both guys names in boxing history.
Frazier had cleaned out the Heavyweight division, and then beat Ali in their first fight, which i think was the better fight.Comment

good point, but I meant it cemented their names by becoming bigger legends then they already were.Last edited by ceboxer15; 06-24-2007, 01:15 PM.Comment

** Kellerman is the kiss of death. He was calling Roy and Zab the best ever too.
You like beauty contests too much to be a boxing fan. It's all relative to subjectivity, and right now all you're seeing is the dark, dank nether region of your lead dog, Maxie.
