it was a great fight, no doubt, but I wouldn't call it the greatest fighter ever, it's without question a top 10 fight, but IMO #1 would be Ali/Frazier III, this fight was IT, this was the fight to show who's the best of the two, this was the rubber match, this was the fight that cemented both guys names in boxing history.

I'm just saying the Live thing MIGHT bias me since when I saw many others I was excited and greatly entertained but I still knew the outcome. I dont know how I would've felt if I saw them live.

But the true test could be this: If you are trying to convert a friend into a boxing fan, what fight would you put on? For me its Corrales-Castillo.
I have converted baseball fans by showing that fight, believe it or not. I used to show Lewis-Klitschko because they were heavyweights. Now it's Corrales-Castillo.

But, like most Ali fights, he was clearly winning it most of the way. To be the greatest ever, you would think the fight was dead even or close to it before the end.

You are correct, i've never seen it, my grandparents saw the fight and they tell me it was amazing, i was wondering if anyone knew that fight ranked on the all time list.

correct me if I'm wrong, but going into the 14th round wasn't the fight dead even/close on the judges scorecards?

I'll say it's the best fight that I have ever seen.

But, there's been tons of great fights that I haven't seen.

I'll just put it this way: I knew the outcome of the fight before I even watched it, and I still ****ted my pants.

I said right after the fight it was the greatest fight ever, too...I think it was on this forum where I was arguing why it was better than Hagler-Hearns.

This fight didn't cement their names in boxing history. Ali had already beaten Liston twice, Patterson, Foreman, Norton, ( Frazier already).

Frazier had cleaned out the Heavyweight division, and then beat Ali in their first fight, which i think was the better fight.

good point, but I meant it cemented their names by becoming bigger legends then they already were.

You like beauty contests too much to be a boxing fan. It's all relative to subjectivity, and right now all you're seeing is the dark, dank nether region of your lead dog, Maxie.
