he neutralizes every style possible in the most annoying fashion ever basically, it works though and its why hes undefeated, crack you in the face a few times then get so close you cant hit him back, shoulder roll? **** off, hell give you a hug then bash you about till you cry, keep him on the end of the jab? **** off, hell give you a ****ing hug so you cant jab atall. its so wrong, but it works, hes a hard little **** and hes smart doing what he does, but castillo did it just as bad this time.

he hugs cause it makes you fight, you HAVE to fight him, you cant back off, you have to fight and if you dont your ****ed, plus it helps him plant those body shots

Exactly, he makes his opponent fight his fight.
Many may not like his style but to be honest who gives a ****, he wins and he wont lose sleep over it.

He is small fighter with short arms who has a history of appalling cut damage, therefore he stays inside his opponents range and neutralises their effectiveness.

      43-0 says it all!

Also I would say Castillo held more than Hatton last night so.....

I would pick all out action over a chess match fight any day of the week.

Especially if the fight ends with a perfect one punch KO like it did last night!

**** me, Hopkins - Taylor 1&2, Taylor - Wright and PBF - DLH etc were technical fights but boring as hell.

In his last 3 fights he has done it more then alot of these elite guys have done in there whole career. The bad thing about it is that he doesnt need to do it. He's a very good fighter. Ruiz needs to do it because he pretty much sucks and has no skill. Hatton may be the one of the most exciting fighters of our era if he didnt hold. He has some skills to box and he has great inside skills. He should be just like a Chico or Castillo. He can fight that same exact way without holding.

It almost seems like kind of a punk move because he just jumps in with the first 2 or 3 punches and then grabs you before you can respond. Then he still punches you in the clinch and spins you off. Then it starts again. You have to give him credit for manhandling big strong guys like Tszyu & Castillo but still. Its ugly to watch. It makes you mad because in between the holding he is a exciting fighter but now its almost like non stop holding. Why does he do that? His corner never says anything to him so I think Grahm must be teaching him that. The only time you should hold like that is when your in trouble.

I dont remember him always being like that. I thought it was great the way he fought. Does he do this in sparring? Its strange. Its almost like UFC stuff. He'll also try to say its not true if you ask him about it. I just dont get it. The guy has skills and is a good figher. He doesnt need to do that. What do the Hatton fans think about it? I also think its pretty dangerous if you run up on the right guy because he jumps in alot. At 147 against the stronger guys and bigger punchers, it could make him walk right into trouble
First off, that style of fighting is extremely classic.

From the inside perspective; having a fighter who clinches beat the **** out of you the way Hatton does - is about as humiliating and debilitating as "taking a beating" can get.

I see nothing wrong with the way he does it.

In fact, I'd say it's highly respect worthy.

Ricky Hatton is not Ray Robinson, he works with what he's got.

The guy is economic, calculating, and cunning.

On paper you can critize it. My eyes interpret Ricky Hatton's fighting style much more *******ly because of everything else he's doing.

He opens guys up, lands clean, sharp punches that break down his opponents - strategically out of the clinch.

People don't see it.. Ricky Hatton ****ing feins clinches.. It's gorgeous.

If I was his trainer I'd keep telling him to do it indefinately.

Tying your Opponent UP is as OLD as BOXING itself...

If you think it's cheating.. Then I would speculate you are Not very Old.. and not very familliar with the SPORT or it's history..And dont really Understand what the concept is..

And to compare Hatton to Ruiz.. is an Injustice to Each Fighter..

Ruiz Will throw a few punches and THEN grab on ..

Hatton Holds and then throws Punches on the break...

It is these subtle differences and Knowing them THAT seperate the Fan Boys and The Fans of Boxing
