Hatton's advantages in many ways nullify many of mayweather's which is what makes a good matchup stylistically. I don't know what Jesus Chavez did against Mayweather but as I said Castillo is deficient in comparison to Hatton in alot of key areas when your talking potentially matching him against Mayweather.
Hatton's 4 round more exciting than Mayweather's career?

I like how you cite Castillo 1, and not Castillo 2 in which none of that **** worked. Fighters learn from previous encounters, and while i dont consider mayweather the smartest guy in terms of personality, in the ring, hes as genius as they come.Comment

Importantly, Hatton's footspeed in underrated, which is why I believe he'll be able to cut the ring off on Mayweather, he rougher inside than Castillo, he's more consistant with punch output through 12 rounds than is Castillo, he probably has the best workrate and stamina or any fighter out there currently if you take into account the energy he expends in muscling and bullying his opponents. It's Hatton's ring if the fight goes to the trenches and I think he can take it there, and if he can do it enough he can hurt Mayweather and slow him down.
In many of Mayweather's fights he seems to be overly protected on the inside, referees dont let guys work him on the inside, so the referee would be important. And if Mayweather is really only interested in money, fighting Hatton would probably produce more of it than any other possible opponent because of Hatton's own fanbase which again goes back to the fact that the so called best fighter in the world has to rely on his opponents drawing power to make profitable fights.Comment

Hatton didn't call out Mayweather. He was asked a direct question by Kellerman about Mayweather, and he answered with wit. Kellerman is really no substitute for Larry Merchant, he just hasn't the chutzpah.
And Max made a pathetic flip-flop by saying before the fight that Castillo wasn't shot and saying after the fight that he was.Last edited by squealpiggy; 06-24-2007, 12:51 AM.Comment

Im not sitting here telling you that Mayweather is going to kill hatton, what im saying is the advantages you speak of have already been shown to mayweather, and hes highly intelligent in the ring.
Styles make fights and Mayweather is an elusive moving target, and if you think its easy to bring a fight to a guy like that, as Chavez about Pernell Whitaker, who fought half of that fight going backwards until chavez got confused and frustrated.Comment

Like i said, Mayweather always rises to the occasion, hes not one of those types to let fights slip away from him if they are remotely close, which they tend not to be. When Castillo was bringing it to mayweather in the middle rounds, Mayweather did fight him, especially in the 11th, he went straight up toe to toe. Against Judah, again, he brought the fight to him, he stood his ground and walked him down and was on the verge of a stoppage. Against DLH, he had a mix between going back onto the ropes, to walking him down, to lateral movement, to be honest, he gave DLH alot of different looks that he never could figure out, (and never will).

Hatton just spent what, twelve minutes, being hit in the face, and he had two seconds to come up with a witty response. I think he did pretty well.Comment
