Castillo's purse to be withheld!

A Nevada Federal Judge today has granted an attachment in favor of Gary Shaw Productions and Diego Corrales’s Estate of up to $1,200,000 of any monies to be paid to Jose Luis Castillo. As a result, Castillo will receive $0 for Saturday's Ricky Hatton fight. Shaw and Corrales sued Castillo after he failed to make weight for their rubber match in June 2006. The case has not come to trial, but boxing attorney Judd Burstein was successful in having Castillo's purse held in escrow pending the resolution of the lawsuit.


This is major bull****....... if anything it should be Toprank who should be the one absorbing the blow for not allowing castillo to move up when he wanted to many years before. This makes me sick.

yeah that's ****ed, they shouldn't be allowed to tax his whole purse, how is the man to eat, plus it is going to take away his motivation for the fight, no matter what anyone says it will effect the fight.

this is ****ty timing to do this to castillo at least wait after the fight to do this, and if he were to pull out now he'd be 1.2 million in the hole and he would probably get another lawsuit against him from hatton and his people.

this is seriously ****ed........................


not to mention that gary shaw is going to benefit from this, and I HOPE TO GOD THAT CORRALES' WIFE AND CHILDREN GET ALL OF IT IF IT DOES GO DOWN THIS WAY.

but to have his whole purse with held isnt right, they should at least do payments if that is the case. i hope Castillo puts his lawyers to work or at least fire the ones that let this happen to him.................
