Better Legacy: Wladimir Klitschko or Roy Jones, Jr.?

I'm not trying to make that case.
None of us know what is going to happen in the next 4 or 5 years. Had you cut Lennox Lewis' career short at the age of 30, its unlikely he'd have the legacy he has today. He'dve had the sloppy defeat to McCall, he wouldnt have had the Holyfield showdowns, wouldn't have had the Tyson victory (which regardless of Tyson's decline is still a huge scalp on Lewis' resume), wouldnt have unified the titles and wouldnt have beaten the best of the rest by stoppking Vitali.
We dont know whats to come for Wlad. There might be a huge up-and-comer on the way he defeats. He might clean out the division (there are just about enough credible fighters for that to be rather difficult) and might continue to defend his unified title undefeated for another 5 years against all competition. At that point, I'd not ridicule someone for claiming that he accomplished more than RJJ.Comment

Wlad probably will clear up the divsion, yes he is the best fighter at heavyweight by far, but its a cack division, when it was stronger he got KTFO twice (in his prime, unlike jones)
And how can Wlad ever match RJJ for accomplishments?
Jones moved from 160 pounds to 200+ Without ever losing a fight, or ever looking like he could lose a fight (possibly tarver one im told)
RJJ fought better fighter, Lost to Better fighters, Beat better fighters.
Wlad can build up a nice legacy for himself, but the reality is Roy Jones is an all time great, and we are talking top 30 perhaps (at a guess) i dont think Wlad can pass that.Comment

Evidently you missed the part where I claimed that the division might find itself with stronger and more credible opponents in the next few years leading up to Wlad's retirement.
Again, you seem to be missing the point that I'm NOT saying that Wlad is or will be better than RJJ. Its ridiculous to claim at this point that he cannot possibly EVER sculpt a better legacy than Jones because we dont know what is going to happen.
Surely even you can see the sense in this very logical statement.
As another poster keeps pointing out. Wlad cannot have it held against him because he has never moved up and down in weight. A 6ft6 there arent a lot of places he can go. I believe that the knock-out percentages are much higher in the heavyweight division than in any other (I believe). So Wlad should be given praise for never being knocked clean out despite spending all of his career in that division.Comment

Knockout percentages dont mean **** when you havent fought lots of quality fighters, Byrd never had a chance, Brock is the boxing banker (lol) who else has wlad beat?
Herbie Hide?
come on dude, its near impossible he will rack up a better legacy than roy jones, cant you see that.
He could build a nice legacy for himself, but i cant see him overtaking jones in the all time stakes.Comment

As you should know from me, I dont believe in commiting to statements that you cannot possibly have any knowledge or control of. A 19 year old Mike Tyson came out of pretty much nowhere.
I think that other people should use more discretion in their bold statements too.Comment

Do you think Mayweather could become the greatest of all time?
Im telling you even if he beat Hatton and Cotto I wouldnt call him the greatest of all time, infact i wouldnt anyways.
Skils wise, yes floyd is near the top of that all time list, but when you take other things into consideration i cant put him over guys like Ray Leonard who were around in better era's than the one we have now, that's not mayweather's fault,
Just the way i feel right now.Comment
