So you respect BJJ, but not mma? You do realize that mma came to be because of the early NHB fights don't you? The BJJ guys won almost everytime, so people with standup backgrounds studied BJJ and mma was born. Maurice Smith is, IMO, the the first American mma fighter.

And I'm not trying to tick you off. I'm just trying to see where you stand. I honestly have never known a guy who took BJJ and is also a boxing fan who considers mma to be 'sloppy'.

And, like you, I myself think those guys who take a little BJJ and think they are badasses are idiots.
im currently on the eastcoast new york to be exact and as you know no mma here.

No kidding he would have killed some people, either that or made them vegetables for the rest of their life.

Seriously, they have no mma cards up there, pro or am? There are mma gyms up there, like Renzo's and Serra's.

I'm in Texas, so I know the scene here well, not sure in alot of other states. We had guys fight in Mississippi for FFC before Katrina(am and pro) and one of our guys is fighting on the StrikeForce Baroni-Shamrock card on Friday. We had one of our female boxers fight in New Mexico, but that state's boxing commission is a ****ing joke and HORRIBLY corrupt. Mostly we fight on Texas cards though.

Hey, what part of Texas are you in? I will will fight you with boxing on behalf of Domain and you can fight me with your mma.

Just kidding with you. I am curious about what part of Texas you are in because I am in Austin, Tx.

I saw some pretty good boxing at the Erwin Center tonight.
8 bouts total with one female match, although the fight with the ladies was one of the sadest things I can remember.

One girl had no real training and was just put in the ring to pad the other girls record. She would have been seriously hurt if the other girl had thrown more than a jab. The fight ended with the terrified girl having a panic attack and going down hard. The crowd was pretty brutal about the whole thing too.

Dude, I live in Austin. Where do you train at? I ****ing could not go tonight, short on cash right now. Two guys from our gym cornered for one of the girls tonight, she does not train with us, but she needed a corner. I'll find out tomorrow if they cornered the winner or the other girl. Did Gatica win? He was undefeated going into tonight. His gym is across the street from ours, we actually spar with them and they with us. Just boxing of course, no mma. They are a good, old school boxing gym, the ROCK gym.

You going to the mma show in Killeen this coming Friday?

Hey sorry for the long wait on the response, me and my girl went out to Kirbey Lane to get something to eat after I typed that message. I don't know who won the last fight with Gatica vs. Casas because I had to leave before it happened to make it in time to support my best friends in their band Peyton Gin. They were playing ar the "Red Eyed Fly" 4 blocks down Red River.

I am not training in anything these days, but I used to box out of the Syracuse boxing club 10 years ago. I actually started there for Wing Chun Kung Fu, (which was awesome to learn) and they also taught boxing and kick-boxing.

I ended up boxing really as part of a need for more sparring partners for the few heavyweights in the gym and eventually I became one of them. In the meantime, I was introduced to a guy named Dan Donzella that is a fantastic private trainer that is certified to teach about 6 or 7 martial arts.

Dan Donzella is quite good and really has a huge amount of fighting knowledge. I learned all my ground game from him and I am really thankful for it.

I am sorry you had to miss the fights tonight, if we had this conversation the night before I would have bought a ticket for you. I am glad you mentioned the mma fights in Killeen because I am eager to attend an mma match at some point. I wont be able to make it to those fights though because I will be working Late Friday night. Bummer.

              Let's keep in touch.

asked him about MMA and how some boxers looked down upon it.. Here is his
                response.

                "The MMA;

Too bad it did not come along when I was just starting out; it would have been just
the sport for me, as I wanted full contact.

Most of the fights I lost, were because the guys could run.

I think as the Fan base grow, other boxers will learn to except it more as an art. It
                really is a Art.

                Thanks,
                George Foreman"

I'm gonna go buy another grill LOL"
I hardly think its an art form like the Great Sweet Science!!!
