    here's a question....how do u rate Kostya Tszyu

i have this debate w/ my cousin all the time & on other boxing boards.....
i rate him as a good fighter not a great fighter.....Definately NOT an All Time Great....
i have looked at his resume....not too impressed to be honest, had some tough than usual fights w/ avg, above avg opponents (& don't try to make them better than they were....I.E. Lopez, etc).....beat a few "names" that were just hanging on past there day (or probably broke) & still fighting (chavez for one....mayweather...bramble, lol, can't believe he fought bramble)....
he's had 3 big fights, thats it.... & won 1 of them. Quit w/ 3 minutes remaining in the fight w/ hatton (1 rd left) because & i quote "he tought he was losing anyway".....& people compare him to arguello....pryor....other all timers? yeah duran quit, in a much tougher fight taking more punishment & went down fighting, NOT because he was thinking he was losing anyways....we have all seen fighters take much worse punishment in the ring than what hatton dished out....
his one win in big fights.....judah, & the more judah KEEPS LOSING & getting ko'd or put down.....the less impressive that victory looks to be honest (plus he got a free shot on an over confident judah)
getting ko'd by phillips doesn't help....at best phillips is an above avg fighter....& yeah he went out on his feet, ONLY because the ref grabbed him & held him up in the coner as he was sliding down the ropes (something ausies & his fans leave out).....he even needed 2 cornermen help him out of the corner to his stool....
now he was a sportsman outside the ring, never in trouble as far as i know....classy interviews.....sweet straight right hand w/ ko power....was very effective as long as he's coming forward, so no i woldn't say he stinks....but not great Definately not an All Time Great

Well he destroyed Judah in his prime, look at all the cotto nuthugging after a 11 round TKO, Kostya did in just 2. Kostya has destroyed Mitchell (prime)x2, Chavez, Roger Mayweather, Tackie, Santos, Gonzalez and many more. He unified the division and was ranked #2 p4p at the time hatton beat him, if thats not a great fighter i don't know what is, the guy is a legend. 20 World Title fights, 18 of them won, its when Kostya went against these guys, they were highly highly rated at the time, might not look so great now but they were at the time.

He was a great fighter no doubt but an all time legend? I don't think so.

I would say hes a all time great, he was fantastic against everyone but pressure fighters. I would still pick him now to beat Floyd, the power, the counterpunch and craft he shows against slick, pure boxers is unmatched in that division. Ricky Hatton was proberbly the only fighter than could beat him at the time, due to styles and great tactics employed by him.

Lets get something straight. Tzsyu quit against Hatton cuz he couldnt fight a dirty fighter and a dirty ref all @ once.

He beat Bramble @ 10-0. Dont care is Bramble was on the way out, @ 10-0 its a feat.

              12-0 TKO's Angel Hernandez.

Not too many cats know but Jake Rodriguez was good back then. Tzsyu TKO 6.

Mayweather, Pineda, Ruelas, Hurtado, Gonzalez, Chavez, Zharmba, Tackie, Leija, & Zab were all very good fighters @ one point or another.

Most deff a all time great. Only real loss in my book is to Phillips. Who was ill then.

Dude had a great chin, a iron fist, and the will to fight. Tzsyu cant be denied.

World Champ in his 14th fight, that doesn't happen very often.

Didn't he fight Laporte in his 4th pro fight??? That is a god damn feat.

He has a pretty good resume of good fighters. He was also known more for how he beat his opponents then the opponents himself. The lazer right hand, the left hook/uppercut...all of those punches had knockout potential. And, he was a tough, iron willed guy. All time great, easy. But not an all time legend.
