Enzo Mac, now there's a guy who isn't particularly skilled but has good power which pulls him through fights.

I actually think Witter is underrated by many on this forum, but he's been in so many snoozefests and his style is so messy sometimes you forget how difficult he would be to fight against.

For the last time, I'd love to dredge up the countless threads from the time of the Calzaghe Lacy fight. Lacy was in many people's P4P top ten for ****s sake, and touted as future P4P no.1 by more than a few posters. Unfortunately there are some exceedingly porous brains on NSB.

I also love how this thread has actually become interesting despite the intentions of the thread starter - it's amazing the effect a couple of quality posters can have.

Shame you don't post here more often MickyH.

Would be a good fight, he hits hard, and ive never boxed, so chances are, i'll get KTFO, but i have pissed about bit with my best mate (who weights 160), bare handed, and i do have quick feet and hands (and an athletics background, was top 3 in my borough a couple of times) so with the right trainer (roger mayweather) i could pull off an upset.

          lol.

I would say Calz is currently the best UK fighter. He hasn't become a lineal champ like Hatton but I think he is hands down loaded with talent and skill. The only knock I got on him is Frank Warren who hasn't matched him up well. Shame I think Calz had an excellent chance to unify the division years ago.

I mean yes you have some great fighters but only those below are worth mentioning IMO at the minute and many of those are on their last legs in the sport. So what happens next?

              No heavyweight worth mentioning.

              Floyd Mayweather
DLH (Although I dont see him fighting again)
              Mosely
              Judah
              Hopkins
              Tarver
              Wright
              Taylor
              Spinks

If we look at possible lb for lb here you probably are looking at five of those fighters as top ten entries (Mayweather, Wright, Hopkins, Mosely and Taylor), obviously DLH would be in there but I think he is finished.

You can argue that lb for lb Calzaghe and Hatton are in the top ten as well (Calzaghe around 5, Hatton 10th)

              Therefore what is your point?
The States has a population of 301 million, Britain has a population of 60 million so that's a ratio of 5:1.

You have arguably 5/6 fighters in the top 10, we have arguably 2 therefore we are no better or worse off than you are.

The only thing I will concede is that you do have the greatest fighter on the planet in Mayweather but the divide is not as big as you would like to make out!
              Bingo.

              ...

UK p4p over the years are better than USA. All those million it took for them to produce a PBF.

Well I know this reply is outdated- But after last night, and in his last several fights (Mormeck!!!!), David Haye has broke through skepticism, not that there was much to begin with, To help fasciliate the idea that he will be the the face of boxing in the UK and soon enough in the entire world, an that does include America.

He's big enough,, he's defiantely fast enough, he is very well spoken, a great looking fighter, he has a great amateur pedigree, a great my-space page, many fans, youth, etc.

He is and will continue doing things the way he should.

7 world champions from a pool of 50 to 60 million beats that of the USA with a pool of 300 million.

In my opinion it works out like this

                      Joe Calzaghe
                      Amir Khan
                      David Haye
                      Ricky Hatton
                      Carl Froch
                      Alex Arthur (other)
                      Enzo Maccarinelli
