Why is $in so ****ing obsessed with Ricky Hatton?

A lot of fighters say a lot of things, but realistically it doesn't make much sense to treat them all as canon. Put it this way: If my job is to punch people into unconsciousness and I do it to a very high standard, then media savvy is not entirely a necessary skill to have. Some fighters are media-savvy, for example Oscar De La Hoya who never puts his foot in his mouth. Other fighters say what's on their mind, and Hatton is hardly the only boxer guilty of this. You ask a fighter after a close decision if they want a rematch and they will of course say yes. In the cold light of day this might not be the best course of action, and a fighters' management team will advise against it. For example if the big TV company that pays your wages won't approve a rematch...
Then you have the absurd suggestion that it would be OK if only Ricky told the truth (implying that the truth is he is too scared to rematch Collazo to use the prior example). Then when he does tell the truth (for example when asked how much money he asked for admitting it was close to that figure) he is pilloried for it!
Fact is some people don't like Hatton and it's puzzling why he provokes people into expending such effort into their dislike. I don't like James Toney but you can count the numbers of threads I have made about him on the fingers of no fingers.Comment

Hatton had a career defining fight against P4P number 3 and top dog in his division, Kostya Tszyu. You need career defining fights for people to really be into you, even Pavlik has one at his young stage, with even more big fights on the way, while we wait and wait and wait for Joe and Hatton to have theirs.Comment

Yes, the amount of time and work some people put into discrediting Hatton makes no sense, and I think it's an indication the person has some kind of abnormal mental obsession. We all have boxers we dislike - I think Shannon Briggs sucks - but I don't create threads every day to prove it.Last edited by Steelhammer86; 05-29-2007, 05:52 PM.Comment

Yes we certainly do! I want the Castillo fight to be immense, I want to see some big fights thereafter, and I certainly want to see him fight Mayweather, even if he loses.
But the implication is that we are still waiting to see Hatton have A career defining fight... We have. Once.Comment
