Because it would be expected that a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr would be a PPV event.

Then why did he claim he was gonna fight mayweather in the 3rd fight of that deal?

And he did, the links are around here somewhere.

That would also work out. I am responding to the implication that the HBO deal specifically excluded a matchup with Floyd. I think the three fight deal was relatively open, and in an ideal world would have been knocking out Collazo, beating up Cotto and taking on the P4P #1...

But Hatton said he was gonna fight him, then said the 3 fights deal didnt include FMJ, then said it would be foolish to fight him straight away,

All the links are in a $IN thread i think, he done so many its gonna be difficult to find, ill try and have a word with the man himself and see if wants to bump it.

I think what he meant to say was that Floyd has beaten 12 current or former world champs.

            1. Oscar De La Hoya
            2. Carlos Baldomir
            3. Zab Judah
            4. Sharmba Mitchell (KO)
            5. Arturo Gatti (KO)
            6. Jesus Chavez (KO)
            7. Genero Hernandez (KO)
            8. Jose Luis Castillo (I)
            9. Diego Corrales (KO)
            10. Carlos Hernandez
            11. Gregorio Vargas (KO)
            12. Jose Luis Castillo (II)

Another interesting note, of those 12 world champions, Floyd has a 50% KO ratio, which is pretty damn impressive.

Hes beaten people better than Hatton.
PBF has more names on his CV and that is why he is p4p no1. But Hatton, even though has only one, Kostya was top 3 p4p rated, so i think Hatton gets xtra brownie points for that.
Before Hatton even beat Kostya, Hatton was creating excitement with the manner he was beating everyone put in front of him. So he was edging into the p4p ratings even b4 Kostya. With Castillo next in line...that is a quality opponent on his CV. Hatton dont always perform to his best in every fight, but at the end of the day people know the quality of opponent he is capable of beating when he does manage to perform.
