Pavlik is a good fighter and could be popular because I hate to say this, he is white. In the U.S. they are always looking for that white-american superstar.
I don't think it's about the race but how exciting your fights are. Look at Tyson and Holyfield. They were black yet they had so many white fans. Pavlik is an exciting fighter, his fights are brutal just like the aforementioned fighters and he could become a star because of that. Now Taylor is black and his style is garbage so his star appeal is very low.

Pavlik's division is lacking the star power.

At 140 and 147, Hoya had a huge list of contendors to fight.

Pavlik has Taylor, Calzaghe and perhaps Abraham. Hell, thow in Miranda if he can recover and improve.

Oh yeah. I think Kessler would be a bigger star. He's good looking, can speak English, has Europe behind him.

Pavlik's height is 6" 2' therefore he shouldn't have any problems moving up to Super Middleweight if there's a lack of competition at Middleweight.

                      now that is just BULL****.

de la hoya was a superstar not just because of his skill and success, but because of his appeal, his charisma, and how he carried himself.

pavlik has some good skills, but the success is yet to come and even when it does, i seriously doubt hes gonna even touch oscar's level of success.

when it comes to charisma, oscar, SRL and ali are the only fighters to really have the ability to charm everybody (more or less). pavlik is very articulate and i was very impressed how he actually answered the questions that larry merchant asked him after the miranda fight. but he does not have the same appeal nor does he have the same kind of charm that made people want to see oscar, leonard, and ali.

pavlik is fun to watch and its good that we have a top level boxer who can properly answer questions and not get pissed off when some1 questions him. but hes no oscar, nor will he ever be.
