    Nice try.
    When he stepped up he lost. Beating Vargas and Mayorga isn't stepping up. Thats stepping down.

      Never happen. DLH had the mother story...good looks and the gold in the am's Thats how he became a name. Pavlik could knock out everyone to kingdom come and never be a household name like DLH.

      Dude sells records...owns a bank...newspapers...PR PR PR. GB Promotions etc. Peoples grandmothers know the name Delahoya.

        I WISH. That's what Bob forgot to say at the end of that sentence.

            It's cool to think that way, nothing wrong with shooting for the stars. however, I doubt that highly....

            1. People were drawn to De La Hoya way before he became Pro;
            A) People admire his inspiration when he lost his Mom's.
            B) "THE ONLY" member the 1992 U.S. Olympic Boxing Team to bring home
            the Gold Medal! (astonishing feat!)
            2. Won 9 World Titles (Record)
            3. Multi-Million Dollar Franchise (ain't even counting endorsements!)
            4. Win, Lose, or draw... fought "THE BEST".
            5. Started at 126lbs, fought at LW, JWW, WW, SWW, JMW, and
            Middle Weight!

            I for one, was rooting for Trinidad. And the "Super fight" was a freaking DRAW! But anyway...Mr Pavlick has a loooooooong way to go before topping that.

              I think Kelly Pavlik's great, but Bob Arum is full of ****. Pavlik will never become more popular as De La Hoya.

                Yes Arum is full of ****. This is nothing new. He's just running his mouth. If Pavlik leaves him he'll completely change his words.

                  This is merely the beginning of Arum's push for Pavlik. With Top Rank behind him full steam ahead, if Pavlik gets a Taylor fight (which is a big reason Arum even said this, to add to the momentum for a Pavlik-Taylor fight) and wins, Top Rank will make him out to be DLH Jr., which, like it or not, is good for boxing.

                  If Pavlik beats Taylor, what are his options? After a gimme defense probably in Columbus or Cleveland to celebrate his Ohio/Midwest upbringing, Arum would beat the drums for unification against Arthur Abraham. This is assuming he steers clear of the Calzaghe-Kessler winner (hopefully that fight happens during this time), which I think he will. Arum would be foolish to throw his newest prize pupil in there with either one of those 168 kings.
