That's why Mayweather's accomplishments are more impressive, plus he's undefeated...

hmmm Good Point... Very Good Point I like that.

But I'm sure the Skill level of opponents will be thrown in there.

Almost makes me wanna look at the list of mayweathers opponents b4 Oscar.

And thats a Shock to myself. Because if they can treat Hopkins like this I'm sure Floyds can be discredited also.

But I won't go back and forth I like Both fighters.
I'm not much of a Hopkins fan, but I respect his resume because that's about as good as anyone's list of opponents can look when they stay in one division basically their entire career...

Hey dude, chill, its cool, if you go through who hopkins fought and then who mayweather fought, its easy.

Look at hopkins 20 defences, i shall now post them up and you can decide.

          Hopkins's 20 defences.

Segundo Mercado (For the vacant IBF title)
          Steve Frank
          Joe Lipsey
          William Bo James
          John David Jackson
          Glen Johnson
          Andrew Council
          Simon Brown
          Robert Allen (three times)
          Antwun Echols (twice)
          Syd Vanderpool
          Keith Holmes (WBC Champion)
          Tito Trinidad (WBA Champion)
          Carl Daniels
          Morrade Hakkar
          William Joppy
Oscar De La Hoya (WBO Champion)
          Howard Eastman

How many of these guys are top fighters?
How many were blown up middleweights?

Mayweather is the better fighter, has fought better fighters, 5 weight world champion, its not even close, really.

Hmm.. Well i really don't wanna put down either... I like Boxers Alot.

The Defense is great for both. Both have Ring Generalship...Ring Smarts. Both Picks punches great.

But if i had to choose based on RIGHT NOW THIS SECOND it would have to be Hopkins ... mayweather has more than enough time.. but thats only if he keeps fighting.

I know it might show mayweathers list of opponents looking a little weak but he's been moving up....So i think its still good.

But hopkins should be more respected.. I actually thought he was already before i read this thread. he's a living legend.

I highlighted some Good fighters. also underlined your point.

**** I never thopught i'd be trying to discredit mayweather but ya gotta admit he hasn't faught too many tough fights.

He's taken easier roads and fought fighters with less skill than him by a large margin.

YES THEY WERE BIGGER. but the skill was not there. And that counds for about 60% of a fight. Power can allow you to win. speed can also. Stamina and edurance can make you last. BUT if you don't have the skill to use these things to your advantage then your in the water with no boat.

but on the other hand mayweather skill might be so great that he can't find people on his l;evel.. and maybe he could have taken some bigger fights. But the money wasn't worth the risk.

I dunno.. this is one discussion imm just stop because I hate to talk bad of either fighter. like them both too much.

hurts like seeing Ali get jabbed all night when he should have been retired.

fair enough, will get back to this in more detail when i have the time, but would like to point out that William Joppy and Howard eastman arent up to much.

If anyone would like to post mayweather's resume and compare the two, i think it becomes even more obvious. to me anyways.

Hopkins was too big for middleweight, thats why he stayed in shape all year round, cos he couldnt boil down to 160 otherwise, he got beat twice by a proper middleweight, schooled by Jones, ducked Jones, Ducked Toney (supposedly), only moved up weight to fight a weight drained tarver, instead of fighting Calzaghe (someone his own size) he wants Winky to come up to 170 and fight,

Hopkins cant handle guys who throw alot of punches, id pick Joe Calzaghe over him even now, Hopkins has done big things in boxing, but the fact remains

                  Bernard Hopkins= Smart Matchmaking.

This discussion troubles me more than it should.. I like them both way too much to stick to either point I make against either as you can see.

I'm the wrong guy for this subject.
