    I dont see how it is even close. Hopkins lost to the best two natural Middleweights he faced. He cleaned out an average division, and moved up to beat Tarver who is solid, but nothing special. Oscar had to move up to face Nard, Mayweather had to move up to face Oscar. And although I think DLH was past his prime, I do think he was as good if not better against Floyd than he was against Hopkins.

      Knocked Oscar Out
      12 rounds to a decision loss with roy jones
      Kocked Trinidad out
      21 times defended title
      Light heavyweight champion
      Beat Tarver
      Hasn't ducked anyone
      Fighting Winky Wright (probaly win)
      Cleaned out his whole division fighting everyone.

      I love floyd and I was rotting for him to beat Oscar.. But asking a question like this is a little dumb...

      Floyd has the time to surpass this if he continues to fight. but he probaly won't fight as long as Hopkins has into is 40's.

      Hopkins Easily has the upper hand in this... though floyd hasn't even lost yet.

      Floyd needs more names under his belt.. I'm sure he could do it if he wanted to.. but as of right Now.. B-HOP has the better legacy.... Wether I like it or not.. and I actually have no problem with it though i like floyd alot.

          I give the nod to floyd he set history when he won 5 titles in 5 weight classes undefeated. Nard got 20 defenses in a very weak era for middleweights.

              Floyd Mayweather.

              Hopkins is one of the three greats that marked the previous generation (RJJ, Toney, Hop) but his reign is filled with mediocre defenses (Allen THREE times? give me a break... Mayweather takes **** for his competition but Hopkins deserves just as much ****). Not his fault, I think he could have beaten better foes if there were any around, but we are talking legacy here not could, woulda.

              Also, this 20 defenses thing is just bull****:
              Hopkins won just a vacant belt from Marcado. He became the man when he unified in 2001.

              Mayweather made 8 defenses of his LINEAL 130 title.

              Hopkins made 6 or 7 defenses of his LINEAL 160 title, depending if you count Trinidad as unification or first defense.

                His middleweight divison was one of the worst in boxing, please, someone tell me these great middleweights he beat.

                Trinidad= Blown up middle
                De La Hoya = Blown up Middle
                Wright= Blown up light heavy

                Fought one decent guy his own size after he spent months piling on pounds for rocky 5.

                Wanted nothing to do with James Toney, and still doesnt, Priced himself out of a rematch with Jones by asking for 50/50, how did he deserve 50/50 when jones beat him with one hand and was p4p number one?

                Bernard hopkins= Smart Matchmaking.

                  If Mayweather wanted to fight Juan Diaz, and he made Diaz go up to 145 to fight him, you guys would be making a big fuss about it. Hopkins fights Winky at 170, and people praise him. I cant believe it. Of course if Winky dominates him he could always say he was too old. Past his best.

                  Technical Skill called it smart matchmaking. Thats exactly what it is. He dominated an average if not below average division, and moved up to LHW when the division was in shambles. Now hes making Winky go up 10 pounds to fight him. Mayweather is by far the better fighter and by far has the better legacy imo.

                    Gotta agree with Wmute on this one. Its just that the two best middleweights that Hopkins faced beat him.

                      Nothin but respect for my man B-Hop, but all this negative stuff being said about him is true. His best wins have come against little guys and Tarver (who I never thought was very good). Both are great, but 5 divisions is tough to overlook.
