Mayweather, he has beaten the better competition and is still undefeated.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that Floyd is a better boxer than Hopkins.

Better competition and better to watch I'd say Hopkins. Floyd is more well known in my opinion and knows how to market himself. If Floyd beats Cotto, Mosley, or Williams than the competition thing is real close.

Hopkins.. Regardless of size, legacy will tell you that Hopkins beat De La Hoya, a guy that Mayweather based his whole career around, well before Mayweather did, and more impressively. he also beat the better names and atleast fought the better names and beat the majority of them.

Mayweather has two big wins and has never lost. That's what he's got going for him. His legacy has other big wins, but they wont compare, in the sense that his career gets cancelled out by B-Hop.

                Hopkins - Mayweather
De La Hoya > De La Hoya
                Trinidad > Hatton
                Antonio Tarver < Diego Corrales
                Winky Wright > Zab Judah

Hopkins showed dominance in his division, Mayweather won A title in 6 divisions (essentially). So, I'm going with Hopkins, though Mayweather can change that. Cotto and Williams would do. Perhaps a Margarito or Mosley. Cintron would help.

FOR THE RECORD, Mayweather is the better boxer, in my personal opinion. He doesn't blow Hopkins out of the water, but he clearly is to me. That's a different argument, though.

I'd say winning a title in 6 divisions is about as equal an accomplishment as the 20 defenses.

IMO, I would say Maywweather because he has won 5 World Titles in 6 weight classes. He beat Diego Corrales, JLC twice, Oscar, and Ricky Hatton. Now Hopkins did beat Oscar and Tito, but both fighters had to go up in weight to fight Hopkins. Bot fighters were natural 154 pounders and had to go up in weight. The impessive thing about Hopkins is at the age of 40 or 41, he was able to move up 2 weight divisions and beat "The Man" at LHW, and not only beat him, but dominate him.
