Hopkins is selling this as if it's his last fight.
I don't care how old he is, a win over Hopkins is big for anyone, especially after his performance against Tarver where he proved he isn't finished.

On ESPNews yesterday Hopkins wasn't selling it as his last fight, it's pretty clear to me he wants to fight at least one more after this. I hope it's Calzaghe at 168 so he attempt to be the true champ at three weight classes over his career. Of course he'd have to beat Winky to do that, and people seem to forget, no one's beaten Winky since 1999.

It would be huge for Hopkins' resume to add "first man to beat Winky in 8 years" to his resume, and as one poster pointed out about getting some measure of revenge on Roy by beating Tarver, he'd be getting some measure of revenge on Taylor by beating Winky.

I don't know if he can or will, and since these are my two favorite active fighters, I have no idea what I want to happen and no idea what will happen, other than no knockdowns in the fight...

Two wins over Hopkins has done wonders for Taylor's career. Just look at how popular he is. Hopkins is coming into that fight at 1-2.

Winky made his name at 154. He's had three fights at 160 and now moves up to 170. The first man to beat Winky at 170 does not mean that much. The same Winky who always said he would never go above 168 because he was too small and proves that theory by refusing to meet Hopkins at 175. He wants Hopkins to struggle to get down to 170 after he was bulking up a bit for a possible heavyweight showdown. Hopkins beating Wright at an un-natural "fighting" weight of 170 is weak. It's like making Mayweather go up to 160 right now and he loses to someone like Taylor. It would be a decent win for Taylor but all anyone would say is that Mayweather was too small.

This is one of the most annoying things about being a boxing fan, every fight has an excuse attached to it. I'm not saying this is not a valid excuse but it seems theres one attached to every fight.lol

Am I the only one here who thinks any win for Hopkins at this point has to be a little impressive? I mean for god sakes hes 42 years old! lol. Most atheletes are retired at this point. How many atheletes move up 15 pounds at 41 years old and fight 12 perfect rounds like they are 25? Hopkins was bouncing on his toes in round 12 at 41. Remember Tarver was favored in that fight. Then against Taylor the old guy has the energy late in the fight and the 26 year old is the one who is tired. Hopkins is impressive to me.

Hopkins has been selling the same line "if you cant beat a 42-year-old man you should retire." If Winky loses, he will retire and Hopkins is selling this as if it's his last fight.

I think it's going to be worse than De La Hoya-Mayweather in terms of action, far worse and far less crowd reaction to anything. I see boos in every round.
                  Bingo ****o Bongo!

Sure if you are a cult fan like we all are you will not be able to stay away-you will have to watch but dont hype this fight to your regular sports fan friends-this fight will have more feints in it then any you can remember. You wil literally have to score a round based upon feints.

The problem is that as it grows closer the promotion will try to reach out to the "regular" sports fan selling Hopkins v. Wright as some battle royal...many "regular" sports fans will give this fight their money and walk away in the end shaking their head saying boxing is in trouble.

In the meantime that same regualr sports fan who is going to give the Hopkins v. Wright fight a shot will have no clue that Miranda v. Pavlik is free on HBO and they will have no clue that just a wek prior to them spending $50 that they could have tuned into a cant miss triple header on HBO.

Cult fans should stay away from no fight.

Sports fans in general shouldnt touch this fight with a ten foot pole!

the only thing i agree with is the fight should have been on the west coast i have not seen a boring winky fight he is always pressing maybe not Hopkins but wink will press you to fight if you look at all winks fights on hbo after every fight the commentators say good fight i will tell you one thing for sure it want be boring like oscar & mayweather. they (meaning guys like your self )said the same bull about wink & taylor.this fight is for true boxing fans not movie star(oscar)casual fans if you want to bring boxing back dont be so negative atlease they are willing to fight eachother im going to the fight it will be worth it
