Hatton has the tools to beat floyd and style-wise it would in theory be a perfect matchup, the swarmer vs the boxer. That's only in theory because Floyd is a brilliant technician and is p4p number one in the world. He could well find a way to win. Having said that Hatton is also extremely good at finding a way to win.

Put it this way: De La Hoya's gameplan against Mayweather was to crowd and make things uncomfortable. But Oscar doesn't normally fight that fight. He was fighting out of his style against the best boxer in the world. Hatton's natural style is the one De La Hoya tried to emulate. I think Hatton has the best chance against Floyd of the current fighters around his weight because of his style and heart. He has the attributes to do it.

Hatton would be worth a gamble, but Floyd would be favourite.

Floyd would no doubt own him, just like he owns everyone else. Hatton should be going after Cotto if he wants a career defining fight.

It's just too tough when you have nothing in your favor.Mayweather is bigger, stronger, faster, hits harder, has a better jab,is a better defensive fighter and a better offensive fighter if he want to be.
So what's left?...talking about a fight that will not happen because Hatton's camp knows better. The only chance this fight has if ever being made is,years down the road when Hatton is ready to retire and one his last payday.
They are leagues and light years apart...

Hatton's BEST chance is past ...when PBF was a smaller guy at 140 and Richard had the opportunity to bull or maul Floyd. Lil' Floyd ain't Lil' Floyd no more.

But PBF was just in against two big horses (Baldomir and Delahoya). Little RH would be brutalized.

Floyd ran and pot-shotted his way to victory against the two big horses. He used his natural speed against two bigger slower men and he won by decision. He showed me nothing that would suggest he could "brutalise" Hatton.

I'm not knocking Mayweather for finding a way to win against bigger but slower men, but let's not pretend that decisioning a bigger man means he's somehow developed their strengths.

Oscar has better handspeed than Hatton, but is slower on his feet. He also is much more of a technical boxer, and we know what happens when you try and box Mayweather. I think that Oscar's power would be a bit too much for Hatton, but Mayweather doesn't have Oscar's power, so it wouldn't be a factor in a fight between Hatton and Mayweather.

In short I think Oscar would beat Hatton but also that Hatton could beat Mayweather.

Lol, Hatton definatley has what it takes to beat floyd.

He's Elusive: Especially when it comes to dodging threats to his title, ask Junior Witter.

He's Good defensively: "Collazo fight i felt heavy"

"Maussa fight i had personal problems"

"Against urango i nearly had to pull with a cold, which wasnt affecting me in the build-up to the fight when i said i was back at my best again"

His attack is as good as ever: Ask his local pizza hut, he's the 140 pound champ of the £5 all you can eat buffet.

But we also know what happens when you're not a technical boxer and fight Floyd. His two biggest challenges have been guys that are VERY good boxers (something that Hatton is not) and can pressure (something Hatton can do). Without the great boxing skills, Hatton is just another guy getting a boxing lesson. Not trying to diss Hatton, but he's just not the guy to beat Mayweather.
