Is Kermit Cintron the right man?

We all know Cintron accepted the White's challenge to Mayweather to go against the best UFC has to offer. It seems to me that Cintron has his eyes on the 2 mil paycheck and hasn't been thinking about the rest. Lets assume he has the ability to give Sherk both a boxing lesson and a wrestling lesson, does that mean he will do it? Cintron had his opportunity to exploit the defects in Margarito's style, yet failed miserably. Why should anybody believe that he has suddenly gained the strength of character to prevail over a well experienced streetfighter in his own backyard? Cintron obviously has more talent than Sherk, but does he have the inner strength a man needs to handle a totally different situation? I'm not so sure.

Facing Margarito is much more difficult than facing some ufc fighter.

While I admit I know very little against Sherk,I think the fact that Cintron is a very good wrestler given his history and obviously a very good boxer I don't see why he can't win the fight.....Or at least not be embarrassed.

Damn Sherk is a tank at wrestling though...let's just hope Cintron has some wicked takedown defense and wipes that smug smile off the big idiot Dana White's face.

Cintron has more talent than Sherk in boxing. Not in wrestling. Saying he could hang with or even beat Sherk in wrestling is nuts. It's like saying a guy who did a few amateur boxing bouts in high school, then quit boxing for about 10 years, could beat a champion boxer at boxing.

He has a shot to win in mma, I admit that. He actually has a better shot than any other boxer I can think of. But he is not going to out-wrestle Sherk.

As bad as margarito is, sherk is unimaginable worse.

I don't even know the opponent that he would face but I can't imagine this will go too well for Cintron should it happen. I think the whole thing is ******. The very least that should happen is that the UFC guy should have to fight Cintron under standard boxing rules after Cintron fights under standard UFC rules.

If that's already the case then well, i'm ******.

I think that Cintron would at least have a chance. He was a wrestler in high school and he is a good boxer. To me as long as he has good take down defence and can keep it standing and at least hold his own on the ground.Plus Cintron is a puncher and you would have to think that with 4oz. gloves his power would be more evident so he could possibly have a quick one punch knockout. He would have a solid chance of beating some fighters in UFC but I don't think he should go directly to the champion.

It isn't enough to have been a good high school wrestler. Most of the UFC guys competed at a high level in college, and have been doing additional groundwork for years.

Additionally, there is a big difference b/w freestyle wrestling and submission. There are alot of (bad) habits to break. H.S wrestling is designed to protect the participants. UFC/MMA is designed to inflict maximum punishment or effect a submission.

Kermit would have A LOT of work to do before he is ready. He is in for a rude awakening.

EXACTLY. One of the bad habits is shooting with your head down. It's ok to do it in Freestyle wrestling. But you need to learn to shoot with your head up for MMA or you can easily get caught in a guillitine choke.
