  • So Lennox Lewis has got me thinking....

LENNOX LEWIS is backing Danny Williams to take on his mantle by beating Vitali Klitschko to become WBC champion in December.

The retirement earlier this year of former heavyweight champion Lewis left a large gap in the division and he believes Williams has the ability to capitalise by taking the title from Klitschko, who he knows well after knocking out the Ukrainian in June 2003.

The fight is scheduled for December 11. No venue has been officially announced.

"Danny has three ways to beat Vitali," said Lewis. "He can go after cuts around his eyes. I exposed him as a fighter who cuts up badly.

"He should also go to Vitali's body, where he is vulnerable. Also, if Danny keeps his cool he could outbox Klitschko and win a decision."

After those recent statements, it has got me thinking....What if Williams does beat vitali? Is that another stab in the heavyweight gut? I mean everyone recognizes vitali as the main champ and if williams beats klitschko will we hold him as the "real" champ? I know people will be all over his testicles after beating tyson and then vitali so people will ride his **** no doubting that one. Williams says he will fight vitali the same way he fought tyson, which has got me thinking aint noway williams is winning this fight w/ that style, in the tyson fight he left his head wide open and was out on his feet when tyson cold ****ed him but held on to a smaller tyson and vitali is 6 inches taller then williams so it wont be as easy to rest his arms on the giant......

What is everyones opinion? If williams wins who is our champ?

My pick is Byrd, Byrd has only been beating by very credible opponents and only been knocked out by the hardest hitting heavyweight since tyson in his prime and that was with a seperated rib......

    Anyone?

    *EDIT*

Best quote anyone could state at this point regarding lewis and klitschko and other fighters....

"Lennox Lewis gives advice to these fighters from retirement and then sends them to me," Klitschko said. "It didn't help Corrie Sanders. Let's see if it helps Danny Williams, but I doubt it."

Once again, this Danny Williams character is funny. The guy beats a 2004 version of Mike Tyson. NOT the 1988-1990 version whom everyone still thinks he is. Back then, Tyson would've wiped his ass with Danny Williams....

Exactly but people are not going to acknowledge that and all that matters is that he beat mike tyson, He could fight tyson at 60 and it would still read he beat Mike Tyson and thats all people will recognize.....

JPW-Vitali has great stamina, I see Vitali pressing to much pressure on Danny.....Danny thinks he is going to wither the storm for 3 rounds and be ok and fight the same way he fought tyson, Now I dont know much about williams but I just dont think that will work....Vitali is a finely tuned athlete and in the later rounds Vitali is still strong.

The same people who think Williams will beat Vitali also thought that Grant would beat Lewis because Grant beat Golota.

Right, my views are that if williams hold his own for a good few rounds then it could be a close bout, he needs to get through the first 4 rounds, then he may be able to take advantage of the klit heads lacking of stamina, i believe that williams will be in excelent shape for this fight

            danny williams TKO or decision

            Then re-match with tyson lol

I wouldn't put too much weight in what LL has to say about Vitali. He has allways had a bug up his ass about him. This should go as planned. Vitali KO mid rounds.

What makes you question Vitali's stamina?

Especially when williams isnt known as a long distance fighter? On top of that vitali is always in prime condition and has been passed 8-9 rounds a considerable amount, hasnt williams stamina been questioned?

williams should win the fight ..all he has to worry bout is a straight 1 2 his other punches arent up there,,,i cant belive people think klitschko is so great when basically he fought nobody ..three fat men and got KO by one of them..the book is out on wlad i think TOS was gone win that fight with that style... and wlad has more skills then vitali all wlads punches are percise..but it dont matter cuz guys this big will always have stamina problems if they face a puncher becuase they dont move really good.. the more i watch them the more flaws i see at first i thought nobody would beat wlad now i think bryd wouldnt have too hard of a time with either of them..
