Cintron: "I Accept Dana White's Challenge"

It was Dana who offered up Sherk-Mayweather matchup. This was IN RESPONSE to Floyd's disrespectful comments about UFC fighters. Floyd has actually admitted his own error in making the comments.
As for the Tito-Dana fight, it was Tito who did not show up. Dana showed up for the weigh in, Tito did not and said he would not fight Dana. Oh, and this fight was going to be under boxing rules, not mma. I THINK Dana has boxed as an amateur. I know he has trained in boxing for sure.
It is all about business: Boxing is competition to MMA/UFC and the only way to bring their fans over is to bash boxing in a way that it becomes unappealing.
MMA/UFC is not all that bad to watch except for the grappling/wrestling on the ground, slow activity during this particluar point, fights being stopped to quickly, and a few other things. All in all, "Pride" was the best one to watch.
I still prefer boxing at this moment, but if top fighters do not fight more often, fight the best, maybe make a few changes (like going to the original glove size, and maybe a bit smaller rings), I will continue to get fustrated.
It also does not help that some of the best athletes are not in boxing, they are in other sports.

The only way a boxer should take that fight is if a contract is made and it would be mandatory for the UFC guy to fight a boxing match. Thats like Reggie Bush being challenged to a game of basketball against Kobe Bryant..........its 2 different thingsComment

Good post Benny. Well thought out and written.
About the Dana-Tito thing, its kinda like a 'he said-he said' thing. I myself think that Dana was wanting to do it. I also think Tito realized it was a no-win for him. If he won, he beat a guy with no pro fighting(mma or boxing) experience. If he lost, he lost to a guy with no fighting experience. I doubt Dana coordinated anything with Tito, they are known to have a very rocky business relationship. Tito was actually kinda 'blackballed' from UFC by Dana a few years ago and Tito has said publicly that he feels the UFC fighters are not paid enough.Comment

If you go on the Floyd stuff you're already wrong. This all was brewing well before the Floyd stuff and again Dana was the starter. I was listening to ESPN radio this morning and who had giving his opinion on the De la Hoya PPV and whats the next big fight and the crowd wasn't buzzing? Good ole Dana. He thinks stepping on boxing will boost his product. He's a ****. If his product is so superior maybe he should pay his guys accordingly.Comment

It's a little off topic, but I do give Dana credit for his growing MMA and the UFC. When he took over UFC was LOSING money and top stars to other orgs (like PRIDE). Now UFC is making ALOT of money, they have most of the big stars under contract, they now own PRIDE, they have a successful basic-cable show (Ultimate Fighter), and the fighters are paid more money than before he took over. But he is, like I said, not perfect at all. I do feel the fighters are still underpaid, and I really do feel his potshotting at boxing is not professional at all.Comment
