the atmosphere and the buildup made this seem much more than what we all knew was going to happen.....man for a moment i was actually thinkin that mayweather would stop oscared but the fool kept runnin around....ill never waste my time watching another mayweather fight and i hope he keeps his word and stays retired.....as for the golden boy.....what now?...the one time i root for this fool and come the late championship rounds the mofo stops throwing the damn jab....dammett all he needed was one damn round and it would have been a draw.......oh well that's what i get for gettin into the hype knowing deep inside what we all knew was going to happen...

The only people dissapointed by this fight are those who know little about boxing or the fighters involved or got really caught up in the hype job. Floyd was the smaller man fighting at a weight class he had never fought at - Oscar made him fight in a smaller ring, use gloves with less padding, etc. That's where the question marks lay with Floyd. Would any of it effect him? Besides that he fought exactly how anyone who follows him would have expected. Solid defense, good punch selection and movement. Some boxers box and others brawl. Who really expected to see Mayweather brawl? That would be dumb. He would have been playing into Oscar's advantages.

Floyd was the betting favorite but most fans where I saw the fight- several hundred attended- and most people in the arena where the fight took place were going for Oscar. Everyone said he was too big, too strong, too skilled. Floyd had only fought chumps, etc. Well- look what happened. Even the rounds that Oscar won were close. He never completely dominated Floyd. Look at the final connect percentage. Mayweather landed at a three time higher connect percentage and threw far less overall.

That's called fighting smart and fighting well. If you thought it was a bad fight you haven't been following Oscar or Floyd very long. An older, business minded De la Hoya did what he could and tired down the stretch letting Floyd dominate in the later rounds.

Solid fight with all props to Floyd for his work at Junior Middleweight!

^^^mayweather impressed me early on but when the late rounds came he was basically running around....if he knew this was his last fight and really cared about his legacy he would of stood toe to toe more often and from what i saw he probably would of got the best of the exchanges....he's just not that type.....

You're right - he's not that type. You can't expect a boxer who relies on his agility, speed, and movement to stand toe to toe with a bigger man. That makes no sense. In life you use what you are best at to the greatest effect. Floyd boxes. That includes "dancing". That's classic in and out agility fighting. Despite so many people saying Oscar would hurt him he used the style he has perfected over time and took the fight. He threw less, landed more, and was too elusive to be hit cleanly. You have to give Floyd props. No idea what you expected...

I won't pay for the rematch. Neither fighter earned his money last night.

I understand....but I can't say I agree. So many people like the man solely for being undefeated. The moment he loses half the fans will forsake him. Does that make sense? You have to respect that he can take a bigger, stronger, more experienced (in big opponent fights) boxer like De la Hoya and land at a three time higher connect percentage while not throwing as many punches. If he hadn't been fighting Oscar people would be saying he won a pretty easy victory, if in a close fight.

I totally diagree with this post. I thought it was an exciting fight, won by Mayweather. Maybe there were no knockdowns or cuts, but it was an exciting match to watch two legends face eachother.

Please this fight was all about money. I was never hyped up for this fight, if Mayweather wanted to add something to his legacy and still get the big money, he would of fought Mosley, Margarito, or someone worthy. Oscar looked like a shell of his former self in this fight, he hasn't fought in a year, and was just looking for a payday.
