You know what though, one annoying this about boxing is that you can find an excuse in pretty much any match up. For example when Hopkins beat Tarver, people already had the excuse ready that Tarver had to lose alot of weight. Now for this fight if Oscar wins I bet people are going to say Floyd was too small. I'm not trying to pick on DLT(hes a great poster on here) but thats one thing about boxing that bothers me a little.
As a Mayweather fan I think that you have to be a little worried for him.Mayweather is clearly faster but DLH has the power advantage.I like many think that the size difference may play a big factor. It may not be as big of a difference as many think though.DLH is a natural welterweight while Floyd is probably a natural jr. welterweight. They both started off at 130 but DLH didn't stay at that weight or any other weight until 147 very long while Floyd stayed at 130 and 135 a long time but he's been making quick work of 140 and 147 on his way to this fight at 154.I'm confident that Mayweather will win beat DLH by decision but DLH has been an outstanding fighter in his career so of course there is reason to worry.Still I feel very strongly that I'm making the right pick in both mind and heart that Mayweather will beat DLH clearly.I also think that the fight will be very competitive with it just coming down to PBF being better.
DLT, i see your point, but you don't need to worry about floyd mayweather. you know as well as i do how much he wants this fight. floyd was born to box. it's what he know best. the major event that is mayweather/de la hoya and how big the fight is doesn't worry floyd, trust me. he lives for moments like this. i'm sure he's at his happiest with this fight because he knows how to win and he wants to be apart of boxing history. he trains like a madman because he knows what it takes to be in superb shape. the weight won't affect him, trust me. floyd mayweather has all the tangibles to beat oscar. oscar should be worried about floyd, because not only is floyd the villian, the better boxer, the faster and quicker boxer, and the smarter boxer, he is still the favorite even though he's moving up in weight, fighting with gloves that may potentially harm his hands, and he doesn't have as much power as oscar, yet, he is still the favorite. what many people fail to realize about floyd is that he has worked his entire career to get where he is now, he knows what he has to do. when floyd gets in his zone, it's like he's fighting with no audience, and he doesn't get tired, and he's bleeds boxing. add to that, he feeds off of negative energy and perfoms at his peak as a result of it. oscar is a part time fighter, fighting an acitve fighter in his prime who is considered the best fighter in the world. he is also fighting a guy who has called him out since he was at 130 pounds. floyd wants oscar, and he knows he will beat oscar, that is why he's called him out, and that is why he is not afraid to air out in public how oscar fights, and claim he is a one handed fighter. that is why he's not shy about insulting oscar in public, because floyd's ego is his secret weapon in him winning fights. he has to win, he won't except anything less. this isn't the floyd mayweather from the 1st castillo fight in 2001. it's 6 years later, 6 six years of more experience and knowledge. and add to that, that roger mayweather and leonard ellerbe are the best at motivating, and those 2 as well as raefel garcia know how to win when it's clutch time also. floyd has a great team around him. he has a tremendous work ethic and workrate. he doesn't know how to except lost, which is why he hasn't lost also. the weight is just another small obstacle for him to obtain, and his calfs are always big, so don't worry about that. he's also bee quick on his feet. he's flexible as a gymnastic star. his upperbpdy movement is on point, and watch how he looks against oscar. he will look amazing in that ring saturday night, watch. watch how fast he looks. watch how he takes his time and strategizes against oscar. watch how good his defense is against oscar. just watch. i guarantee you, you have nothing to worry about. his will to win is as strong, if not, stronger than ever. and his confidence level is at an all time high. floyd cannot wait to fight oscar tomorrow night, and oscar is in a lot of trouble, and afterwards, floyd will cry, he will give oscar his thanks, they will hug, floyd will give oscar so much props and he will apologize for what he said to him, oscar may cry, i'll cry also because i appreciate the blood, sweat, and tears from both of these guys, even though i've bad talked oscar also just like floyd(well, maybe not like floyd) and i really appreciate floyd's will to win in adverse situations, his love for the sport of boxing, his chemistry with his uncle, manager, and hand wrapper, his trash talking and the fact that he's backed it up, and because oscar is a great champion, but it's floyd time to shine at his highest, even with his bad attitude, when it comes to the sport, nobody loves boxing like floyd mayweather jr does.
so again, dlt, i understand your concern and you know how much i respect and appreciate your posts and love for boxing just like my love for it, but you have nothing to worry about. they both will leave all of the insults, controversy, trash talking, shoving matches, hate, love, disrespect, respect, loyalty, adversity, and dedication of the sport where it truly counts, the ring. floyd is reay to defeat oscar, and oscar is ready to defeat floyd, and it will be a great fight.
Size isnt a factor they have very similair measurments. It even seems like Mayweather has the bigger build to me.Mayweather also has the bigger and stronger legs, which he will need because Oscar will be heavier at fight time. Just that Mayweather hasnt let himself go like Oscar did. Both started at 130 and are an an inch and a half away in height. Pretty close to me.
2.5 inches i think?
but anyway, did you see them at the weigh in? how can you say size is not going to be a factor?
Finally, I am worried for Mayweather, too. In the sense that i dont expect this to be a shutout: This might not be 1999, but oscar record a 154 is pretty impressive if you ask me, so i dont expect this to be one-sided.
