Pound for pound is not judged on who fights who, or who moves up weight, people still dont understand its meaning.

It is judged on who is the best fighter when attributes are not affected by weight,

Another way of saying, skill 4 skill who is the best fighter?

Or for those who still dont get it,

Its another way of saying who is the best fighter in the world regardless of weight?

                one more time....

If a fighters attributes such as speed and power etc were not affected by weight, (basically meaning its a pure battle of skills) who would be the best fighters in boxing.

Floyd Mayweather is the best fighter in the World regardless of attributes affected by weight and thus is the unviersally recognised p4p number one.

                Case Closed.

                  Floyd's notable opponents

                  130 - 135 lbs:

                  Genaro Hernandez
                  Diego Corrales
                  Jose Luis Castillo

                  140 - 147 lbs:

                  Zab Judah

I'd like to see him fight Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Cotto, Simms.

I don't like Floyd, and I agree with you to some level, but he has beaten pretty good fighters, just not the best of the best, like De La Hoya has time and time again.

Floyd looked damn impressive against Baldomir. And we all say what Baldomir did to Judah and Gatti.

Floyd looked good against Jose Luis Castillo the 2nd time through, even though Castillo beat him in the first with as much clarity as Mayweather won the 2nd.

Floyd looked really good mid to late fight against Zab Judah.

And look at Corrales! Holy ****.

I know that Corrales, Judah, Castillo and Baldomir are not the GREATEST, but they are pretty good.

In comparison to Oscar, Floyd is not p4p, Oscar is much more of a p4p candidate than Floyd will ever be. Pound for Pound implies regardless of weight. Oscar has been through 6 divisions, and beaten the very best. Mayweather has been through 4 and beaten the Okest. Had he fought Kostya Tszyu at SLW, or Margarito or Mosley at WW, or even someone like Zahir Raheem at Lightweight, I would have a lot more respect for him. But the point is, Floyd skipped the best time and time again and just went for the WBC, regardless if whoever holding it was any good and would get him any respect.

okay, this is a fair argument to some degree, and i have been arguing the title of this thread for over a month now, and if p4p is only about talent, then don't you think, people like ivan calderon would be in the top 10 or hell, even top 5. i mean, he is the closest fighter to floyd that i've seen. he's still undefeated, and he's much more talented than manny pacquiao, that's for damn sure. i thinks it's not only about talent, but about opponents also, and it's obvious that floyd mayweather has fought many good opponents out there and beat them all. people argue about gatti and baldomir, and how they were bums, but fail to leave out that they both held wbc title at 140 and 147 when they fought floyd, and floyd dominated them both, but then say nothing about oscar defeating a bum mayorga with hardly any boxing skill who happened to be the wbc super welterweight champion of th world. that startles me a little bit. but, i'm sure to many of you on here, the fact that oscar beat mayorga after a long layoff makes up for him beating a bum, because that was amazing for him to do that, and the same people discredit floyd for beating two wbc champions in his own right, and i'm willing to bet that gatti and baldomir could box circles around mayorga. but, then again who cares about all of that right, seeing how oscar has fought top dogs in the sport like trinidad, hopkins, mosley, whitaker, quartey who has the stiffest jab out of anybody, vargas, and oscar lost to majority of these guys, and many people feel that he lost to everyone of them except vargas and mosley in the rematch. but, the fact that he fought them makes up for his losses against them right? floyd can't say the same about his opponents right? although he has called out mosley, hatton, cotto, lazcano, cassymayor, and more but they wouldn't fight him. but, people like margarito calls out floyd, floyd says no, and floyd's ducking margarito, a margarito who would be good competition for floyd but would lose and most likely be dominated by floyd with floyd's superior boxing skills and smarts in the ring. floyd beats people like corrales, hernandez, n'dou who was a hard puncher and only lost 1 fight prior to fighting floyd, and went toe to toe with floyd, castillo twice, judah who was focused like never before, gatti who may have been "past his prime" to many people, but come one people, gatti in his prime was still a human punching bag with the balls the size of canteloupes and would have still lost to the much quicker, smarter, and better boxer, floyd mayweather, and baldomir who had impressive victories over judah and gatti and don't forget he was the wbc welterweight champion of the world, but compared to oscar's opponents, who majority, oscar lost to, floyd's opponent's aren't ****. yet, floyd's called out winky wright and shane mosley, and they didn't take the fight, but to many people, they're no ducking floyd, and would beat floyd to many people(obviously these people have nu clue what they're talking about, because floyd would beat both of these guys, especially mosley), yet when floyd doesn't fight margarito who doesn't even hold a wbc title, which to floyd, is the official title, floyd is all of a sudden ducking him. bob arum and th esnake that he is was so smitten on calling floyd scared of tony, but he wouldn't let cotto fight floyd, and cotto at least imo would be a bigger threat than tony would, and i'm willing to bet would gross way more with floyd seeing how's he undefeated and has way more fans than margarito does, but he would still lose to floyd in impressive fashion because people fail to realize just how great floyd mayweather jr is. he is the best boxer in the sport today, and people always claim to have a blueprint for him, yet, fail. that's how you know he is the best p4p because everybody thinks they have what it takes to beat floyd, and in reality, no one knows for sure, but i'll go out on a limb to guarantee you all that floyd would beat cotto easily in a good fight, hatton easily, mosley, wright, margarito easily, trinidad, vargas, maybe even whitaker, possibly even hopkins at a reasonable weight, lazcano, naz hamed easily, kosta tzyu, will beat oscar may 5th, quartey definitely, mayorga easily, cassymayor, juan diaz easily, vivan harris easily, frietez easily, paul williams, andre berto, and more. i guarantee you all that floyd can and would beat all of these guys if he fought him. soem guys would be a little tougher and others, but floyd beats them all, an dhe doesn't even habe to fight them for me to say this. styles makes fights wright?(yes, i meant wright). winky would be the toughest opponent besides b-hop for floyd. shane woul dbe next, but this is all only because of their styles, yet, floyd's style would be too much for all of them. now, take that.
