I agree for the most part.

The best guy Hamed ever beat, Tom Johnson, was on the slide. But at the same time, he was regarded as the top 126 lb. fighter in the world, and had made like 12 or 13 defenses of the IBF title. It was the best guy at the time that Naz could beat at 126. Naz beat the titleholders of the 4 main organizations.

They may have not been great fighters, but it's not like you always get "greats" floating around. That in itself was impressive enough to give him more credit than he's generally given today.

26, at his prime...gets his ass beaten by a man who just lost to Morales.

If Naz took on Morales, Morales would have killed him.

Naz was one of the most over rated pieces of **** out there. He **** himself in the Barrera fight then he was too ****in scared to fight anyone good again, hardly great.

I may be daft, but what exactly was "the September 11th thing" and its relation to Naz? Was it because he used to praise Allah? If that's it, it would seem pretty insane of a reeason to derail a career so dramatically.

Best part of the fight was at the beginning when Naz came in saying "Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar" with "Islam" on the back of his trunks. Then Barerra slowly and gently kisses the Cross at the end of his Rosery and then beats the **** out of Naz................loved it.

I find it a little sad that people are so negative on this forum.
Nazeem Hamed was a very unconventional fighter, blessed with extreme reactions and power. Very few fighters in the lower classes have one punch KO power and Hamed did. He was thrilling to watch.
He was not a great because he didn't have the will to be. He was declining (comparible to Tyson) without losing but scraping through on his inate talent. He was ripe to be exposed by a great like Barrera.
He will remain for me one of boxing's 'coulda beens'.
Don't dismiss him til you've seen more than one or two of his fights.
And for those of you who are so critical, how many 'greats' have been destroyed by one bad fight and barely ever returned. I saw only one come back for Lacy. Mesi can't fight like he used to (obviously), and even Tua's lost his touch.
Once a fighter loses their confidence (and towards the end all Hamed had was arrogance) a significant number lose all their skills.
And for the ******* who refers to any boxer as a 'Piece of ****', **** off back to your Grandma's basement and post some more equally ignorant bull****.

hahaha nice one ****, do you not see the irony of calling me a "web warrior" and then acting like a tough guy on the forum haaa, what a ****. Also do you think just cos he was a boxer I can't say he was a piece of ****, whats that about? are they immune or something? he was a piece of ****, I've seen pretty much all his fights, deal with it.

Religion was a big part of Naz. He praised Allah on every fight, it was part of who he was. Can you imagine him fighting in the states praising Alah? I bet everyone involved including Naz was scared of his safety after that. I think it had an impact on his boxing career.
