    Does Floyd Get Unfairly Treated?

Ive never understood why people hated on this kid so much. It makes no sense. There are so many things that a ton of fighters do but yet Floyd is the only one who will get ripped for it. There are so many things wrong with boxing but yet they seem to blame Floyd for alot of it.

1- I always hear is that Floyd is an unknown. No one outside of hard core fans know him and he cant sell that big. Ive been reading alot of things about how big Oscar is to Floyd or how Sugar Ray was way more famous. That is so unfair. Boxing is far more dead now then it was in the 80's. Floyd may not be a household name everywhere but how many boxers really are? PPV has killed it and the media never covers it. Its not like Floyd is the only one. Then when it comes to selling "huge" numbers, how many fighters do that? No one sells big anymore and e****ally no Americans. People brag on these other fighters but there not even American. You have a much better chance of selling if your Mexican or PR. Still with that, Floyd's numbers compare heavily to even Mexican stars who are fighting eachother so they should be blowing Floyd out the water. There are alot of great fighters that no one knows but they never get ripped. No one knows Winky, X, Clottey, Casamayor, Chico, and whoever. Only a few guys under HW has been recognized since the 80's and there in or about to go in retirment. Stop ripping Floyd for that **** when its a total boxing thing.

2- Floyd vs All Time Greats. It makes me sick how now alot of the media rip him by saying how he would do against All Time Greats. What makes me mad is that most of the time they say guys like Hearns, Leonard, & Robinson would kill him. It is so unfair because Floyd has only had 3 fights at 147 and anyone with eyes could see that he wasnt a full fledge WW, yet these other guys ended up fighting at 160, 168, and 175. Its so ******. Ofcourse there going to look like they can beat him when 147 was there prime weight, the weight they fought a ton of fights at, and the weight they were young & fit in. Floyd clearly hasnt looked like a real WW and I dont even think he's weighed 150 in the ring yet when those guys put on a ton of weight. Its not a coincedence how eyeryone use to say that he would do very well against all those past 130-140 guys but now they say those other guys would kill him. Be fair about it. Atleast give Floyd like 3 more fights to grow into the weight and then we can judge him.

3- Floyd's Resume. 1st everyone use to sweat it but now because they hate him so much they say he doesnt fight anyone. They always bring up Margarito which is a joke at best but lets go past that for a second. What really makes me made is when they say things like Floyd keeps moving up without fighting the top guys like Hatton, Cotto, Mosley, and so on. It makes no sense to me how the media can say that and keep getting away with it when its so untrue. He's tried to fight Hatton so many times and Arum wouldnt let Cotto near him. He tried to get the Mosley fight instead of Baldy but Shane wouldnt take it. He never gets credit for that kind of stuff. He's tried to get fights with a prime Naz, Freitas, and prime Lazcano, and so on but no one cares. If that was anyone else they would call him the most feared man in boxing. Ive also always said that he never gets the credit he deserves for moving up and fighting these huge guys. I still say that he's the smallest man in boxing yet moves up so quick. There is no other fighter who is consistently going into the ring at the weight limit or just a few pounds over. Floyd was just at 140 a couple of fights ago weighing only 145 in the ring while Oscar will come into the ring around 170 pounds in this fight. People praise guys like X, Tszyu, & Calzaghe for staying in 1 weight class. What if Floyd wouldve done that? He couldve in the last few years dominated legends like MAB, Pac, JMM, EM, Diaz, and so on. He would then have the best resume in history but that wouldve been the easy route.

    PART 2

4- Floyd's Attitude. Floyd is now hated for the way he acts and his trash talk. Again, he's the only guy in the sport who is ripped for this. This sport has been known for that forever but yet he is hated for it. People love listening to Hopkins and others do it but they rip Floyd. They try to make the Euro's seem like good guys & heros but all of them talk smack. All Calzaghe does is trash talk. Have you guys heard the things Hatton and the Tszyu camp says? Pantera is loved now partly because of his trash talk. Everyone loved Mayorga when he came out but when its Floyd then its horrible. I just dont get that.

5- Floyd is boring. People wonder why the sport is dying but all you have to do is look withing. Our media gets upset that the America doesnt care about boxing but yet they constantly rip our best fighter and they rip all guys who fight like him. In every single sport Defense is praised and is the #1 sole reason for titles. In boxing it is still the biggest reason yet media & fans rip it. No one wants to watch boring guys like Floyd, Hopkins, Winky, & so on because they practice the art of boxing. To hit and not be hit. Instead of our media loving to see techniqal brillance, they instead call these guys boring, and basically right articles telling fans not to watch them or telling them that they will be boring to see. They love all these millions of one hit wonders who come in with a flash and are never heard from again after a few fights because all they had was a punch or Offense. Bottom line is the media should be boosting Floyd up and praising his all around game instead of calling him boring.

My final thought is we are wintessing one of the greatest fighters of All Time wether you like it or not and we spend our time ripping him. In 20 years there will be kids hearing about his name and I bet anything thats when he will get his just due. When those people look back & watch his tapes. We get mad at the way he acts but yet dont take responsibility for creating him. If you treated him better then maybe he wouldnt rebel. Why does everyone have to smile & kiss your ass to get respected. This sport isnt based off that. He doesnt have to act like MJ to be great. If thats what it takes to sell tickets then I wouldnt want to see him do it. Its B.S.

                  1 - agreed

2 - somewhat agree. I do think fantasy match-ups are silly, but I think the talent pool in boxing has dwindled in the last fifteen years or so. There are less and less people interested in boxing, so you'll find less great fighters.

3 - kind of disagree. You can't say any of those people ducked Floyd. Those fights never happened, and we'll never know who's fault it was. Floyd and his team will say it was the other persons fault, and the other person and their team will say it was Floyd's fault. It's all political garbage, and I don't like it when people get wrapped up in it. That said, Floyd's resume is very good, but not from 140 and up. People are obviously comparing his resume to Oscar, and I do think Oscar has a better resume. He has some losses, but all of his fights are close, and he's the only fighter in his era, besides Holyfield, that really fought everyone that people wanted him to fight.

4 - disagree. I don't like trash talk, but with most fighters it just comes across as being self-confident or self-motivation. Floyd and a few others come off as insecure braggart juvenile *******s. Nobody likes an ******* in any sport. Floyd is simply ****** if he thinks people will like him regardless of how much of an ******* he is.

5 - agreed. slick defensive fighters are massively underappreciated

                  (6) - Floyd is a great fighter and one of the best of his era. Regardless, he's an *******, and that is not our fault. That is his fault. Did people's lack of appreciation of his defensive skills really push him to flaunt the wad of money he carries around and act like a child at press conferences? Floyd doesn't have to smile or kiss anyones ass, but it isn't a big stretch to ask him to not be a loudmouthed derogatory jerk every time there is a camera nearby. Floyd is not rebelling; He has an enormous ego and he loves to show off and act like his **** doesn't stink.
