What I'm saying is that whilst ppv records stand at 2 million people - 2 MILLION PEOPLE IS NOT A LOT

Eastenders (a British soap opera on four times a week) gets 8 million viewer EVERY TIME IT'S ON.

If ppv's were cheaper perhaps more people would buy them and the promoters would actually make more money. In a country as big as America a fight as big as this should be hitting 20, 30 even 50 million buys. Not 2.
Well, maybe if your soap opera was $55 no one would watch it, & we're not talking about viewers, it 2 million buys, I'm sure there's alot more people watching then that.

It might break the record for ppv buys of 2million. 2 MILLION!?!?! That's not a lot of people watching. Eastenders gets more than that and it's on four times a week.
          lol

Eastenders isnt a ppv though Bro lol
If it was it would generate about 200 homes

PPV numbers are deceiving because alot of the people that watch them do so at a party of some sort not unlike the superbowl. Im guessing that most of the people watch dlh mayweather like myself will be doing so with atleast 4 other people.

Well, I can say without a doubt what Americans won't be watching, and that is - soccer, which is about as entertaining as watching turtles screw, but they will definately be watching DeLaHoya vs Mayweather....

2 million PPV buys aint a bad look for boxing. You have to take into account all the people that are going to have friends and family over for the fight. Mutha phuckers on here will hate just to hate. I don't give a damn if some Euro or Canucker has some small **** syndrome over this. Guess what, WE DON"T CARE... So if the shoe fits, wear it. And this has nothing to with race, origin of country or whatever. PBF vs DLH is great for boxing. It will get some youngins to get back into the sport. It will get people that have swayed intrests from boxing BACK to watching the sweetest science. So hate all you want. I'll be sitting with my nephew on May 5th, and that is a good thing.

OK. Almost everyone's missed my actual point which is this. 2 million ppv buys does equal a lot more people actually watching it BUT STILL NOT AS MANY AS SHOULD BE WATCHING IT FOR AN EVENT OF THIS MAGNITUDE. John H Stracey vs Jose Napoles drew hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide because it was free.

My point is that boxing is becoming more and more a marginalised sport and some of that blame has to fall on the shoulders of ppv's. Fifty five bucks is a lot of money to be paying for one night when you're not even going to the ****ing event, so a lot of people that might watch what will hopefully be a good advert for the sweet science will not watch it because of cost. And slowly but surely boxing's fan base dwindles.

To the guy that said I know nothing about the market - you have totally missed my point. By a mile. If this were free advertising revenue would surely go through the roof because of the amount of people watching it, so would the promoters actually make less money?

To the guy that said that if Eastenders were a ppv it would generate two hundred buys - you're absolutely ****ing right. I don't watch that **** - my point was that something as bad as Eastenders gets more viewers than one of the most exciting fights of the last twenty years!

This shouldnt be. This Saturday should be as big as the superbowl but it's not. And why? Because every ****ing boxing match is on ppv. And that is bad for boxing and will ultimately lead to the demise of this great sport as less and less peole want to fork out for it.
