Not many people are gonna watch Mayweather/DLH

It might break the record for ppv buys of 2million. 2 MILLION!?!?! That's not a lot of people watching. Eastenders gets more than that and it's on four times a week. The sheer cost of ppv's in America is what's destroying boxing. The sport it eating itself, promoters and TV companies are too greedy and before long no one will be watching boxing. It'll end up the new showjumping.

Your right, it might break PPV records, but people won't watch it. They'll simply leave they're lounge rooms when the broadcast begins after paying $54.99.

I think $100 million for a single event isn't half bad...

OK, congratulations on completely missing my point there.

What I'm saying is that whilst ppv records stand at 2 million people - 2 MILLION PEOPLE IS NOT A LOT

Eastenders (a British soap opera on four times a week) gets 8 million viewer EVERY TIME IT'S ON.

If ppv's were cheaper perhaps more people would buy them and the promoters would actually make more money. In a country as big as America a fight as big as this should be hitting 20, 30 even 50 million buys. Not 2.

I think that boxing fans are going to buy this ppv, and really it would top out at 2 million. It's a massive moneyspinner, and don't forget the 210 mil is in addition to endorsements, gate reciepts, replay money, and closed circuit.

2 Million purchases is not equal to 2 million people watching it. I ordered the fight at my bar in Sydney, and I'll have 300 people watching it here.

Absolutely, I'll have a bunch of guys at my place. Not many people will buy the PPV and watch it alone.

That is obsurd. So what if 2 million PPVS were ordered!!

this thing here is a sporting spectacle!! people generally dont watch spectacles alone by themselves in their loungeroom, But in clubs, functions and bars etc.. Yes, the money is a deterant, but there is gonna be many millions in the states and around the globe watching this fight.

What you are overlooking is that 1 PPV buy != 1 viewer. How many people have said they are going to a sports bar or a friends house to watch the fight? You get 8, 10, or 50 people watching the fight off of 1 buy. So if there's 2 million buys, you might actually have anywhere from 25-40 million people watching. The number of buys doesn't really mean a whole lot. I think if it cost $40 to buy, you would have more buys, but still have the same amount of viewers, maybe a few more.
