He beat Ray Leonard because Leonard tried to fight inside (and even succeeded a bit), but he was outclassed in every sense in the rematch. He couldn't adapt to any man who didn't stand with him and slug, or any guy who could box. And people think he could beat Whittaker???
dats is what i am getting at Duran is overrated and also because has so many fights but most were nobodies. The only great he defeated was srl because he riled up srl in the first fight and got him to brawl with him but when srl wisely outbox in the second fight and made him quit.

duran gets to be in his prime in 1980, but a year and a half later he is not in his prime, haha. His fans make more excuses than everybody, there is no clear definition as to when duran's prime really was because it's all based on opinions whether you like it or not.

He got really close to beating Hagler. No he isn't above leonard or those folks. But he deserves to be looked at as one of the greats for the things he did.

Pazuzu- So he should be a top 10 ATG for fighting nearly everybody? But Whittaker isn't better, even though he fought and beat nearly everybody?

He lost to those guys, bottom line. Benitez, Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, you name 'em. It shouldn't matter if he's moving up in weight and fighting them.

In that case, I guess that Vinny Paz is an ATG, huh?

Everyone agrees his prime was at LW.

After that he was undiciplined, and often out of shape, yet still was able to hang with the best because he had natural ability and toughness.

                  lol
                  Did i mention Whitaker??
Im just arguing that Duran was truly great IMO.
As was Whitaker. But im not comapring their achievements. IMO they are both ****ing great fighters.

Actually i dot know why people are comparing them.
Its like saying Leonard isnt great because Robinson beat more hall of famers.
