ya, its understandable for a prospect to be protected on his come-up, but over protection like JCCs case can backfire as soon as he is out in the real world against a REAL opponent.Comment
-
well, thats boxing politics and a legendary father that kept him like that.
but a record of over 30 wins undefeated should have been on a championship level.
I hope our cable provider show Vanes even if its reruns.Comment

I saw Vanes fight, power, good boxing skills, a nice stiff jab, good footwork and pretty fast handspeed.
While JCC has the skills, it is a given he has feasted on sub-par competition. Although for the time being it is excusable as this guy started young and if what I heard JCC didn't have much of an amateur career so he's learning on the way.
Who knows maybe JCC has something in him. But judging on what I saw on previous fights, Vanes will own JCC bad.Comment

thats a good match-up Joart, he cant make his non-amateur experience as an excuse, theyre both 20 year old and JCC had much more professional fight experience than Vanes.Comment

Well, they're both young. Personally, I think it's too early to really tell. Let both fighters mature and let's see. Who knows.Comment

thats true, but Vanes does have an extensive amateur career (120-10, 80 by stoppage) and of course highlighted by the 2004 Athens Olympics where Vanes represented the USA.
with that said, i find it somewhat laughable and impossible for the son of a legend like JCC to be thrown into the pro ranks with no experience at all, how does that make sense? ive seen videos of JCC jr fighting with head gear and that to me is an amateur fight, regardless if it's recorded in the books somewhere or not.
I think the more enticing matchup for VANES (which will definitely happen in the future and be HUGE) is against Andre Berto.
VANES has fought him twice in amateurs, losing in the first bout, and then coming back to beat Berto in the 2nd. VANES was also the reason Berto didn't make the US Olympic team, therefore Berto took his next best option and joined the 2004 Haiti team.
by the way, both the fights were all out WAR unlike any other you would see in the amateur game. We have em on VHS. classics that will be shown one day.Comment

yes, Berto had incredible power and use excellent combinations for a prospect, I never knew that they met in the amateurs, but I know both could knock JCCJr out. Berto vs Vanes will be a very good match-up, but I think Vanes had superior outfighting skills and footwork, he might win via decision or late round KO.Comment

ya, my prediction is the same for Vanes vs. Bertoyes, Berto had incredible power and use excellent combinations for a prospect, I never knew that they met in the amateurs, but I know both could knock JCCJr out. Vanes can match Berto's power, but i dont think Berto can match Vanes' technique and footwork.
how bout another interresting fact for you...
since turning pro in April '05 VANES has NOT lost a single round in his 12 fights, in which 10 of the opponents have had winning records (over .500)
TOTAL of 40 ROUNDS.

yeah, thanks for the info bro, very interesting, I knew from day one (lol, I mean since I saw him fight last year) Vanes is going to be a great champion someday. I hope he keeps his cool while retaining his hunger and passion for the sport.
and do please tell Vanes I'm one of his fans.
