Would Roy Jones get exposed much earlier if he fought better competetion?

jones was totallydifferent, when he started he went in there and Knocked you the **** out...after Mclellan he changed a lot...

jones didnt have a chance to change simply because he was too old to do so at 35, plus tarvers left killed him mentally...

35 isnt very old these days and he wasnt in any wars. lets not make excuses for him. he may have slipped a bit but he wasnt an old shot fighter by any means when tarver iced him. he got tagged by a clean shot and just couldnt take it. even when he was young light hitting del valle dropped him. he didnt take a good shot and when he was finally hit clean he fell hard

Calzaghes 35, and he's still a warrior with almost unlimited amount of stamina constantly throwing punches. And still doesn't get credit on his constant action in fights.

DUDE you can't be serious, Calzaghe is really 27 based off the fights he has taken and he is the one who should really be criticized.

I dont think Jones has been exposed at all, tarver caught him with a lucky punch and his confidence never recovered from that. Like the guy said earlier, Johnson didn't get the real Jones. he wasn't ****y n confident but shy in that fight. Johnson never would have beat him, but Tarver on the other hand, would always give him problems because of his size speed and south paw style.

Jones was a natural middleweight 168 at most. Of course he did not have hagler's chin. so what?

1a. I guess Hopkins and Toney chin must really suck then... Hopkins knocked down twice by Marcado and Toney knocked down by a junior-middleweight.

Do you think if Roy had faced more quality competetion earlier in his career that his chin would have gotten exposed much sooner? If he fought guy's like Nigel Benn ,Joe Calzaghe ,Darius Michalchewski , Glen Johnson ,but a couple of years earlier.

Roy looked awesome against counterpuncher type fighters that did not take the fight to him. I think the fighters above would bring the fight to him,no matter how much he was in his prime,and give him a lot of problems.

I know he beat Toney in 1994 ,but Toney's type of style was perfect for Roy because he is more of a counterpuncher who is not very aggressive. If Roy tried that same move he did on Toney on Nigel Benn or Glen Jonnson they would have been all over him before he even tried it.

don't let me get to you man, i love roy. I just like coming at him because I don't like tarver. I think tarver sucks ass and only beat roy because styles make fights and tarver found an opponent that couldn't adjust to his style.
