I agree with this when it come to population to boxer ratio BUT what about profesional boxing compared to champions (Does anyone know). Country to country compairson are hard to make because of all the obsticals faced in certian countries. Anyways, Puerto Rico or Mexico they should be both proud IMO.

I have been boxing fan for over 20 years.... My observation is that Mexican fighters have been the MOST OVER-RATED fighters in the history of the sport....

If they are pitted amongst themselves (ala Morales/Berrera/Marquez) they do seem entertaining.. However, if you put the Mexican "Best" against real elite fighters, they simply lose...

Take a look at the Mexican "Deity" Chavez... It was not until later in his career that he actually fought top ranked fighters... And, when he fought Meldrick Taylor and Pernell Whitaker he was consistantly bailed out by corrupt referees and judges... I dont know the reasons but the FACTS speak for themselves...(Maybe because WBC is based in Mexico?)

NOW, take a look at the boxing "ICON" DE La HOYA.. Can anyone tell me who he beat in the last 5 years that makes him so popular? ODH is the Golden Goose of boxing yet he isnt even ranked in the top 10 in most P4p lists... Oh yea, he beat Mayorga, who is 2 weight classes smaller than him... Is it me, or wasnt he crying on the convass when he was hit by a Hopkins body shot???? Now he wants to fight Mayweather who is 3 natural weight classes lower than him....

If you are really knowlegable in boxing you would have made the same observations... And, why do some Mexicans always say that all Latinos agree... That counldnt be the furthest thing from the truth... Most Latins (Cubans, Colombians, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans)I know dont even like Mexicans...

Although I may be a PAC fan, I know whole heartedly that he is hardly NOT the greatest thing since sliced bread... He was not greatly heralded when he came to America... As a matter of fact he lost to 2 other Filipino/Asian fighters already when he arrived... I suspect that if he was not fortunate enough to come to America, he would have slipped into obscurity in the Philippines just as thousands of countless Filipino fighters....

The fact is that Philippines is thousands of miles away and it is not as easy to come to America as simply crossing a fenceless border... There are for sure many Filipino fighters that will knock Pacquaio on his ass but I doubt they will ever get the chance....

mexicans are great warriors plain and simple, they epitomize what a warrior is.

same with the pinoy fighters, they're basically the same in the warrior aspect, i mean other than the indian blood they have the same spanish backgrounds, so that could be where they get their do or die attitude inside the ring.

don't discredit them as a whole and don't discredit their history when it is proven that they are warriors beyond what is considered a warrior inside the ring, mexicans are great people and they are great for the sport of boxing, same with pinoys, but when someone like you comes out with all this negativity you do nothing but make yourself look like a complete bigot ******* with the swagger of a ****.............

fighers might fight for their country and fight for their countries pride but when they are inside the ring they fight as two men, equals until the will and skill of the better fighter becomes evident and they win the fight, then they and us know who the better fighter is...............

well you got good fighters and bad fighter but mexician seemed to have more exposure than Piony and asian coutries and even Eastern European because they are close to US and that goes for puerto rican too.

My belive that once the guy is in the ring it does not matter if he is mexician puerto rican, african or eastern European it all what you trained to and you willing to win that is matter all this national bull**** is thrown out of the ring.

Maybe thanks to Pacquiao, One day the Philippines will have many more champs... When you have a star like Manny it motivates others to go box and try the sport out, so you never know!
