MMA is legit, e.g. not streetfighting, but they need to make their own name for themselves, rather than using boxing as a crutch. If they could box, they would be doing that instead, since that's where the money is.....

funniest **** i've ever read on this board!!! LOLI think MMA is fake just like the WWF is, people forget 20 years ago people thought that WWF was real, I remember all kids in school use to debate about Tyson and Hulk Hogan, we all know now Tyson will KO Hogan's ass out in real fight!
I think MMA does a little better job then the old WWF, they make it look a little more real, after seeing many video's from MMA fights, I think the whole sport is fake just like WWF.
I saw the Ray Mercer fight against that Japanese guy, Mercer was def paid some money for that fight just to make MMA look good, it's easy to get some old broke ass boxers to make your sport look good and real.
Sorry guys, all you guys are getting
by the MMA just like the old WWF 20 years ago!
One day we will find out the truth about MMA and we will all know it's fake!

I agree Yreej. I think some of the better strikers in mma could have been pretty good b level fighters, but that is not where the money's at (unless your name ends with Gatti). I do think the elite boxers with a couple years of submission, take down etc. would be a force to reckon with in the elite mma groups. I think this is just whole bunch of talk though. Like I have said before, if boxer a. meets mma fighter b. it would come down to what stipulations would layed down for the fight. And just don't see this going down. I think the two forms are just to different types of combat to see it happen. Just my opinon.Comment

only thing about mma is it more like wrestling and ground and pound... the best stikers in the world cant even compete becuase there strikes are too deadlyComment

ufc sucks, those fights last like 2 minutes. I rather watch a long ass boxing match then see someone getting taking out in 2 minutes. I could take a piss during that fight and missed the whole fightComment

I disagree with people saying some guys go into MMA because they could not make it in boxing. One of the reasons I hear alot is that guys who retire from MMA are generally in alot better shape, especially mentally, than retired boxers.
Look at someone like Jeremy Horn. The guy has over 100 MMA fights and he speaks perfectly clear, not a hint of slurring. I've seen quite a few boxers with ALOT less fights that are in worse mental shape and sadly still fighting.Comment

I've trained both and I will have to say that MMA is a lot more intense then Boxing.. which makes ****ing sense considering you have to train more parts of your body in different ways. BUT, I will say this, atleast in my area, the MMA fighters think they are hot **** and will call out boxers any time they can. Now, I like boxing way better because the 'community' of boxers in my area compared to the 'community' of MMA 'fighters' are not only more mature but aren't these kids who watch UFC all day, every day, and think they ****ing know everything. There is nothing worse then walking through a mall (there is an MMA gym inside one of our malls) and watching some fat kid hit a heavy bag with his iPod on.. and as you make eye contact with him for some reason (because staring at people while you punch things makes you feel hard, right?) he smirks and begins to flail around on the bag like a kid with autism. That's why I ****ing hate MMA around here. Also, whenever you would get in the ring to spar, most MMA 'fighters' (and I keep putting fighters in quotes because most of the time they aren't there to fight - they ***** out all the time!) can't get past a god damn jab. I would have way more credibility if they didn't give up after a couple clean jabs to the nose and one or two rights and/or left hooks. Even in the professional rankings you see major UFC stars being knocked out in ****ing one punch. WHY? Obviously it's because there training isn't focused on being hit in the face 95% of the time.. which makes for a way less intense fight. The UFC is going to bring back knees to the head on the ground (Dana White said this in an interview) so ****ty UFC fighters who specialize in highschool wrestling can't just shoot in on strikers all day without the strikers being able to do something. That might make it more interesting. Also, Professional MMA fighters are very versatile in their respective art(s) but have you noticed how many of them just aren't good in any particular area? They have more ground work skill then boxers (obviously) but still look extremely sloppy doing it. They have better kicks (obviously) but still look extremely sloppy doing it. They do NOT have superior punches (obviously) and look like kids with down syndrome when they attempt to punch. Even the skilled strikers just don't look impressive when they knock people out. Chuck Lidell, the 'striking messiah' of the UFC looks like a backtown hill billy with his hands down throwin' punches that LOOK* (keyword kids, LOOK, does not mean that they are) like they are thrown half ass. To the normal ****tard kid who thinks there cool the punches may look amazing.. but to most people with fighting experience, particularly the boxers, who specialize in 'punches', they look like ****.
Then again, different game, different rules, different mindset. Who knows. Who cares. FLAME AWAY BOYS!Comment
