Actually ESPN agrees with him. I'm a fan of MMA but boxing is a tougher sport.

Try both, I have, and you'll see...

i dont think i've ever heard an mma fighter call out a boxer, i think someone is talking out their ass. Its such a pointless arguement as well, its like saying oh a baseball player could beat a cricket player in a baseball match, its just nonsense.

Saying one sport is better than the other is a bit dumb as well really, they are not comparable, boxing is over 100 years old as a pro sport and mma has been around about 20 years maybe less. the fact that the two are even mentioned in the same breath proves how fast mma is growing. It seems like every other week now frank warren makes comment on the ufc (which he thinks stands for ultimate fight club, which shows his level of ignorance perfectly) in his news of the world column. It wouldnt surprise me if the likes of warren, king, arum etc were quite scared of the way mma is growing (thus the attempted 8 man tournament in h/w boxing that never happened).

Saying that a boxer could beat an mma fighter is a bit of an odd statement as well. If ur saying ur average 4-round pro could beat any mma fighter this is just complete fallacy and anyone saying that has obviously never watched proper mma and needs to open themselves up to mma rather than burying their heads in the sand and saying 'boxing is the greatest sport ever'

          Nice.

Gunstar is an idiot. There has been at least one MMA death. It happened in Russia, but to an American. His name was Doug Dedge.

Also, most good MMA gyms and about all the top-level MMA guys have a BOXING coach. The real deal MMA guys and gyms do not look down at boxing. Tito Ortiz made it well known he worked on his BOXING with Fernando Vargas. Diego Sanchez worked with DeLa Hoya for his last fight.

And if it's all fake Gunstar, put up and go into an MMA gym and drop a challenge.

I've stated earlier, I see the explosion of the popularity of MMA as kind of it being still somewhat the "new thing". And if you have followed MMA, you can see that it has evolved, in the beginning it was a couple of skilled sub guys against basic street brawlers. Now, you have to be at least somewhat proficient in all areas to stand a chance. The training and the athletes themselves have gotten TONS better since the beginning. Boxing will always be my number one favorite, but I've been following MMA since UFC 1 (and it all started long before then) and I've seen it grow into a first rate form of fighting. As for as who wins what, it all depends on stipulations of said fight.
